DE-LIMIT

Does anybody know if the B6 S4 can be delimited and if so what the 'rough' top end is?

Thanks in advance

Quote from Autocar's first test of S4 Vs M3, December 2002:

"Both are electronically limited to a 155mph maximum speed, but today this once inviolate restriction is less tightly enforced...."

Whether that means the test cars were de-restricted, or that there is a limiter but it's set to a rather more "generous" 155mph, I'm not sure, but the top speed recorded for the S4 Avant (which incidentally was tested separately; the above quote came from a comparison of the saloon & the M3) was 164mph (M3 160 mph :P )

Couldn't tell you if that 164mph was an electronically governed top speed though, I'd like to know too if there is indeed a limiter on our cars (not that I'll ever reach it  )

My car's been to an indicated 165mph. I've read many posts on a US site where people are convinced there's no limiter.

Was that speedo or DIS reading? (*imagines Scotty calmly resetting DIS average speed at 165 mph* 8) )

If speedo, indicated 165 is probably little more than 150, given the usual 10% tolerance on speedo readings. Was there any more left in her at indicated 165?

I wasn't the driver so can't say.

However my speedo is incredibly accurate. I've run at an indicated 150mph and had 148mph on my GPS.
