Went black/titanium optics on my Sprint Blue 'Loon!

Post by coldo » Sun Mar 08, 2015 5:52 pm

I know i like to see what you lot are doing with your cars so felt i'd share my latest progress!

Decided on a bit of a change in look for 2015, it was new tyre time and wanted to get the wheels refurbed... which resulted in a comfortable 4 figure bill at the bodyshop after some man maths and opting to get the optics done and a bit of a front end respray to rid her of stonechips! :bash:

Went with Goodyear Eagle F1s, dark anthracite wheels, titanium optics on the chrome and mirrors and gloss black on the front grill trim. Then matt black on the front rings.

Also got the calipers refurbished, seals done etc however the bodyshop went and used the wrong (imo?) decal which is annoying. I only noticed when i picked the car up and it had obviously been painted and laquered etc... so a bit of a pain to re-do them both. Also realised now i want to do the rear rings in black so gonna do a bit of research as to the best way to remove and refit in the exact location!

All in all though, chuffed how fresh it's looking.

That looks really good mate. I think the calipers and those decals work well. Which decals did you want instead?

Cheers guys.

The decals i had expected were the standard ones (below). I expect the bodyshop went for the black ones for a better contrast which i understand. They are growing on me though!

Really like this look. Been toying with the idea of going black optics and anthracite wheels on my Sprint loon. Seeing your motor has certainly increased my desire to do so :thumb:

I love black optics on a sprint blue. Was the only other colour I considered when looking to buy.

Nice!

About the caliber decals. You can put new RS Stickers straight onto the "old" Stickers and they will last there for a very long time.
I did so about a year ago and no signs that they would peel off. Of course you could add some layers of lack on top if you like.

The rear badge can easily be aligned by putting tape under and besides the old badge before removing. I would buy a factory black
badge instead of replaying the chrome one.

Thanks bud! Will grab a set of decals on eBay and have a play around.

Seen that about the rear badge, I actually painted the front one myself and it was pretty good but expect re-fitting will be harder with it being glued on rather than clipped. eBay it is, again!

Thanks for the feedback chaps.
