Anyone removed the stock exhaust backboxes?
Re: Anyone removed the stock exhaust backboxes?
Pretty sure they were also made by whoever did the pipes. I've seen them in person, they look good and really aren't very complicated to make.

Hi
I now own Ian's old car and the exhaust tips are custom made
I tried the set up for a couple of weeks but decided it was too loud and a bit boy racer, so have changed back to stock but now it's too quiet
need to find something In between

Wanna get rid?
And...welcome. Ian's thread on pistonheads was one of the reasons I decided to buy one.

Sorry all ready gone
Been looking at proflow exhausts don't know if they are any good but they do different exhaust tips and seem good value

In my experience, it takes a bit of effort to get just right. Much as I think that milltek are a little overpriced, you also know what you're getting.
On my kitcar, it took me 4 iterations of muffler to get it just right - too quite, then no muffler at all (which sounded awesome at WOT, but <beep> at idle). Then a cherry bomb - too quiet (cherry bomb - the most notoriously noisy exhaust from my childhood). Finally the smallest muffler I could find from merlin motorsports turned out just perfect.

That's why I decided not to copy Ian, milltek systems are relatively cheap for our cars anyway when you look at what they charge for a newer car. I paid £680 for my non-res and I think it's a prefect balance.
