Those with small plates

Those of you with smaller front plates, How are you attaching them to the grill?

I've just and my plates made up, Don't really want to just stick them to the longer front plinth.

on my C6 I took the longer plinth off, then drilled the plate to align with the holes that hold the plinth on, I remember doing something similar with the b7 before.

alternatively you can get a plate holder that screws in the tow eye hole, I have that too but my small plate looked really really small when offset to one side, again slightly different on the B7

Mine is just screwed straight on to the grill using the existing holes from the plate holder. Just use some longer screws and jobs a good'un'

I'm in the process of buying a 4 digit plate and have enquirered with Audi and it's no trouble to get a short backing plate whether it's from US or UAE parts list I don't know but your local dealer can supply :nogarors4:

Do you move the plate holder to one side to remove?

I used the holes for the plate holder and the same screws.

Currently my plate is in my window cos i love the massive grill. Looks meaner.

I used the original back plate and cut out the middle section with a chop saw, masked it all up first with duck tape so it didn't split when I cut it.
I also purchased a spare one from Audi just incase £76, but will need it anyway when I go to sell.

Plenty of options suggested thanks

Also prefer it without a plate tbh.

I removed the plate holder and measured the holes on the car where the plate holder was attached to correspond to my new plate. Then drilled and fitted them into the original holes on the car.
however I did not like where the screws showed on my plate as it was half on the black lettering and half on the White back ground.
I then decided to get the pressed metal plates as I like the look of them. In order for me to attach this to the car without drilling the new pressed plate I counter sunk the holes on my old shortend plate and stuck the new pressed plate directly on top off it.
The pressed plate hides the old plate perfectly and looks good.

U don't have to use ur old plate u can also just make a small bracket out of thin sheet steel or stainless, drill and countersink the two holes and stick ur new plate directly to the new steel holder. Which will also eliminate the need for screw caps showing on your plate.

Mine fitted with front short plate and as per Vodkaking77 , used existing Audi backplate fixings and a lower placement. :D
