Thanks for the comments guys. Quick update:
Have been drying the car out as quickly as possible - not easy in this weather as I do not have time to take the carpets out fully, but we're getting there. Local audi (non RS) specialist came to look at the car at home and cleared the codes (still waiting for the print out). He said it drove fine but needed a long drive as it had been standing for a month.
However, drove it for the first time today and the car was (having investigated further) in limp mode pretty much from the off. Still very little drive in forward gears (reverse seems fine) and no kick down. Have ordered the cable and will plug in and advise the codes ASAP, but think it may be on its way to Unit20 for full diagnostics.
A few questions in advance if getting the codes:
1 - has anyone used the Phirm in Hook? I could get there easily but don't want to waste my time (PM me if easier);
2 - in the absence if the AA, any idea how much might a flatbed be from Surrey/Hants border to Unit 20?;
3 - as I am away a lot, I'm thinking of selling. If anybody knows someone who might be interested in the car at a realistic price, please let them know it might be available. It was in great condition before the rain (FSH, recent ATF change, PSS9s etc)...
Cheers
David

Being in the south, MRC in Banbury would be a lot closer to you than Unit20. They have a very good reputation.
As for selling the car in it's current state will not net you very much money, don't be surprised if your offered £1k. A C5 RS6 not running as it should isn't an easy car to sell.
