Seriously Interested In A New RS4

I have ordered a S3 saloon, which will be ready for collection in early March of this year

However, a friend of mind advised me of the cracking deals on new RS4's at the mo

The spec I've decided on (so far lol) is -

Audi RS4 4.2 FSI Quattro 5dr S Tronic Petrol Estate
Suzuka grey
Fine nappa leather - Black + front sports seats with Rock Grey piping
Sports package (20" 5 V spoke alloy wheels, Sports suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC), Dynamic steering & Sports exhaust)
Black styling pack
Privacy glass
Piano black inlays
Hill hold control

I've done a few enquiries with the online brokers and this is what I found

Drive the deal and Orangewheels are offering the most discount - nearly £8k on the model/spec i would want
Carwow - 4 dealer replies so far, including Coventry - nearest was over £2k away from above 2 and it wasn't Coventry! (Coventry Audi are showing 11 stock RS4's on carwow at the mo)
Carfile - Don't do the 'base' spec RS4, only the 2 Ltd editions 1's

I've been into my local Audi dealers to get a paper brochure and poke around the showroom sepang blue RS4. When I get my best deal, I will go back to them, but as I found when negotiating my S3 saloon deal they are not willing to compete with the online broker prices

I've already contacted drive the deal who came back to me yesterday with their deal. I'm waiting on orangewheels to get back to me as we speak

Thro' Carwow, Coventry Audi have 11 (eleven) stock RS4's in at the mo. I've contacted them as well so to see if there is any movement on their prices in relation to their stock cars

I've done an insurance quote for a new RS4 & it came out at £280.94 for the year, full comp. with protected NCD for the wife & I to drive, garaged and only £150 excess. Oh and the insurer? Saga! lol All the other insurers were wanting a compulsory excess of between £600 & £1000!

Just had an email back from Coventry Audi about an enquiry I made thro' carwow on one of their 'stock' RS4's, of which they have 11 (eleven) in stock remarkably

This was their reply - 'Unfortunately we cannot compete on price with this model. Due to this vehicle being limited allocation this would be our best offer'

So basically they are saying the price for a discounted factory order RS4 is the same as the discount on a 'stock' car! Unbelievable!

Having literary just gone through the purchase process myself over the New Year period, when ringing dealers and trying to negotiate on 'stock' cars I generally found two responses...

1. "We'll contribute £2k, and Audi UK will contribute £2k, we won't match DTD" This was a standard response on a stock or factory build. It's in line with the low rate 4.9% deal they are offering.
2. "We can get near to DTD (9%), but it will be a real hard push". This was found if I pushed hard enough on a stock car they'd had for a long time and/or if it was a VERY high spec. It wasn't applicable to a factory order.

To be honest you'll need to be in the right place at the right time to get anything more than that, and given the end of year has been and gone the mega deals will be drying up. I achieved 15.25% discount, and another member achieved a fraction more (we both negotiated in the quietest end of year period), both on cars with c£62k price tags. Both experiences were hard fought over a period of several days.

Having said all though though, the biggest problem you'll face is the vast majority of stock cars which are available now are of a VERY high spec (avg £8k), so the discount won't even cover the options. GFV stays the same regardless of what options you put on the car.

So all in all you'll need to find a dealer with a car at your spec, that's in stock, that they've had a for long period of time, and that they are willing to at least match DTD on. I compromised by accepting a car which had £2k of extra options on, which added £70pcm to the monthly.

Thanks for all the info. Just ringing round some of the Dealers with stock RS4's at the mo to see where I'm at

A friend on another site I'm on has just been offered £8700 discount on a fairly base spec factory order RS4, so it looks like I'm not trying hard enough at the mo lol

Just had a call back from orangewheels who are matching DTD's discount of 13.4% (on retail price as opposed to OTR price) exactly on a factory order RS4

£7500 total discount is about right in the market if you push hard, remember though that the £7.5k includes £2k from Audi (so it's £5.5 from dealer + £2k from Audi). The 10% referred to previously is the discount before the £2k contrib from Audi, so yes 12-13% is deemed as the 'max' available.

The challenge for you now is to try and get £7500 contrib from the dealer, then get the £2k from Audi added on top(!) with the low 4.9% rate, so it totals £9-10k discount.... If you manage that (like I and also copperband did) then you're ahead of the game!

Is the serum the professional only one? I treated my SQ5 to the G1 and after 6 months or so I am very impressed, but it will need another application in the Spring. I have decided to go the Swisswax route with the RS, for the sake of comparison more than anything, though I'm waiting for things to warm up before I bother.

To Bristle, DTD and Orangewheels give you a decent benchmark, in my case I used them as leverage with my local dealer but I do value the relationship but understand others trying to nail down the last penny, it is part of the fun. That said I have had a few concessions such as rubber mats and a free first service to soften things, worth asking for if the dealer can't quite match.
