On my car sport = open - reselecting drive closes them. I have to go to another drive select then back to individual which I leave as engine sound - dynamic.
Then press the passenger heated seat on and off twice and it goes super loud. Audis Easter Egg.
Is that a joke or real?
Real, just tried it! 11 months of ownership and never knew that.

I can confirm fwiw that going into sport mode first before manual makes no difference to the exhaust sound on my car (a 2014MY). The car has the "engine sound" MMI option (which I've read some cars don't have?) set at "dynamic" (and everything else at "dynamic" apart from suspension which is "comfort"). The only effect sport mode has that I can tell is to hold the gears for longer in auto mode.

More oddly though, the "engine sound" option has no noticeable effect. With the car in park with the door open so I can hear the exhaust clearly and me changing the setting between dynamic, auto and comfort, there is no difference, either at idle or when revving. It sounds plenty loud/fruity enough for me when driving so I'd be surprised if this didn't mean the valves are always open. It would be great if somebody knows definitively how it's supposed to work, just so I know there is no fault with my car. Is there any link to engine revs for example? In my other car (not an Audi) the exhaust valve operation is very clearly linked to engine revs, with the various different dynamic modes controlling at what point in the rev range the valves open (including a "not at all" option).

(The easter egg thing is a joke right?!? Not all cars have heated seat buttons for a start!)

I don't have heated seats but if I put the wipers on intermittent and open and close the glove-box twice it gives me an addition 50bhp :biggrin3:

Press the horn twice and re-set the tachometer and the flaps will stay open.

This is a quicker method of restoring normal functionality if required for long family trips.

I've just done exactly this with mine so it makes it quicker to change back should i want to on a long journey…. yea right!

Personally think it should stay like this with Dynamic exhaust selected in the first place.

Press my horn twice, give the RS4 a big rev in sports, look across at the missus .. And it's flaps open time! :biggrin3:

I can't believe I just said that .. See how RS4's make you feel 18 again

And I've got the heated seats option. Gonna test out their benefits now too.

As for the exhaust, it sounds great to be able to get the extra options but it's all getting a bit complex for my Sunday morning brain. :drink:

Wow, this exhaust noise thing sounds a lot more complex than it needs to be.

Dumb noob question - apologies in advance - where are the exhaust flaps? If they are left open, is there danger of water / crap getting in there? Thanks!
