Tracker and the RS6

Post by Lewy » Mon Jan 05, 2015 2:26 pm

OK Gents, need the collective brain,

Current best quote from the insurance company states I need a CAT 6 tracker. Audi do the CobraTrak Plus system which I'm getting clarification that it is a CAT 6 system. Any other experience out there in RS6 land?

Finally, insurance companies... any good recommendations?

Thanks

Lewy

I'm with Direct Line and they require a Cat 5 - which is even more secure than a Cat 6.

Downside - its more expensive to fit and run

Upside - the premium was £500 a year less than for my old C6 (£500 less for a £40K car vs £92K car) - which means it will pay for itself within 3 years.

I am with Priviledge and have the iMob TT4 which is a very nice piece of kit.
I think that they are part of direct line, so should be accepted by them as well.

Was fitted by Robbie at Valet Magic -- I cant recommend them enough

What is driving the requirement for a tracker? Location or vehicle value?

Admiral don't require a tracker, but do require you to declare factory options, however they are cheap. I'd also check with Aviva, though you'll need to call them because of the value.

Thanks for the responses guys,

Live in London, no points on my license, no fault accident in 2012 (£700 damage), live in London, aged 43, driver since 17.

+ AVIVA would not quote as there is a "garage required" policy.
+ Direct Line came in with a huge quote and huge excess.
+ Admiral where more expensive than my current quote.
+ Awaiting a call back from Adrian Flux

Best so far is Hiscock's via First Point at £1295 for the year... some good extra's on the policy such as anyone over 30 insured to drive the car fully comprehensive with my permission (my mates like this option!). I'm also insured on any other car fully comprehensive, european cover, etc, etc.

I'll keep trying, but thanks for your input.

Tracker is required based on car value. It was the same when I had the GT3.

Cheers

On the "anyone over 30 clause" - worth checking the excess. I have had some policy quotations where this has been available but the excess jumps astronomically if invoked.
Something like 10% the insured value of the car.

I am with Liverpool Victoria. The quote is £510 but then I am 50 years old (about the only upside of age). Car will be on the driveway, I live in Guildford, Surrey, The car will require a tracker, I haven't looked into the details yet - I need to get my skates on if I am to finalise all that stuff for next week.

i've had a quote from elephant based on car being parked on the street in Kent, age of 37, no tracker, valued at £105k and covering upto 8k miles p.a - came out as £650 fully comp. Only about £200 more than the current C6 RS6 which is odd given the massive difference in values.

although, to be honest, elephant are like the ryanair of the insurance world - you pay for all the other features like hire car facilities and dont expect great customer services etc... so will change when the new car shows up, so will be interesting to hear who you end up with Lewy.

The "London" factor has always been an issue with insurance to be honest.

Elephant quote was £1495.

Adrain Flux never called me back and left me on hold for 10 minutes... so I'm ruling them out.

Just need to get my final delivery date! Excited, oh yes and I won't forget FON ;-)

Hi Lewy.

did you get any info back from audi regarding the CobraTrack plus system.
I'm just trying to sort out insurance now through our company insurance. they are requesting a cat 6 tracker. I want to get the ball rolling so I'm not held up the beginning of next month.

cheers

Hi Dave,

The Audi CobraTrak Plus system is recognised by my insurance company as CAT 6 compliant.

As mentioned by another poster, CAT 5 is a high security rating, for information.

Cheers
