SOLD.

Not for as much as I wanted but with 8 weeks to go before our first child, needs must.

Thank you all for your support and comments.

All the very best with your RS6s, I'll look in from time to time :)

Oh, I've still got the winter wheels for sale ;)

Edit, wheels sold now too!

Glad you've finally sold it - albeit it at a giveaway price.

Do stick around though. Your knowledge of the slushboxes alone is a great asset to the forum.

A couple of people have enquired about the specific tow-bar that I fitted as they are interested in one for their '6' for bike racks or small trailers.

My tow-bar was from a 2001 pre-face lift C5 A6 Saloon although I believe that they are the same for the Avant also.

It was a Westfalia factory fit detachable tow-bar.

It replaces your standard bumper mounts and adds a third securing vertical bolt further forwards in the shell (the holes are already there on all C5 A6s).

The bar itself sits behind the aluminium bumper bar although you'll need to trim this to clear the fixing hole for the detachable tow-bar and drop down electrics bracket if yours doesn't come with it's own. Because mine came from a car that I was breaking, it already had the aluminium bumper car.

As far as I know, this is the only tow-bar that will fit to an RS6 with the standard RS6 rear bumper without having to cut the bumper.

The detachable tow-bar itself does not clear the bumper entirely but pushes up the very lower section just a little when it's in position. There is enough 'give' or flex in the bumper for this. I would expect that this would cause some small paint damage as everything flexes but this will only be on the lower downward facing surface that you never see.

The electrics bracket and socket do not interfere with the bumper in anyway, neither does the make structure.

I do miss the RS6 but as our son has just arrived, I'm not really thinking too much about cars right now :beerchug:

Congratulations on the new arrival!

I fitted a towbar also, not sure on make but it means when the towball is fitted it runs through a square cut in the bumper where the centre mesh panel usually is. This removes easy when the towbar is fitted and covers the hole perfectly when the towball is removed.

Congrats on the new arrival, commiserations on the recent departure... our little 'un came home in the '6. Perfect car to fit 3 kid seats in the back, plus bags and double buggy in the boot...

Surprised it didn't go quickly, especially at the price. It seems everyone wants a perfect RS6 with a gearbox warranty, and the moon on a stick. Can't say I blame 'em though. Not looking forward to giving mine away :boohoo:

I found out yesterday I now own this RS6!unds.. & I'm pleased to report that the gearbox is still going strong  with approx 20k miles put on it to date..

I do have a few little items that need some attention (will post fault codes later for some help), just thought I'd share the news..

What a small world it appears to be..

Good to see that the car is still going well (and the gearbox).

Thank you for the photos that you sent me. Would it be ok to put one up on this thread?

@RS2 thank you for taking the time out to talk to me about the history of my 6, was very helpful & interesting. No probs with you sticking a pic up. Poss remove the reg if you can (I'm guessing most people know the plate anyhow lol)

No probs re plate... although I think it's so funky I'd want people to know about it ;)

Image

It looks very different with the wheels painted in a darker colour. Not my choice but if everyone liked what I did, life would be boring :biggrin3:

I'm sure they already knew it as mentioned before, just force of habit I guess..

Yeah wheels were darker then planned, but as discussed with you yesterday I like the look of them now.. Plus it's always good to be different :)

Thanks @bam_bam It's not mint yet. Working my way through the items that will finish her off one day. Speaking to @RS2 yesterday, we both agreed the colour scheme is the best I think, blue with black leather.. Think it works really well..

That's stunning! Only thing I can see to comment on is the headlights need a polish. The wheel colour looks really good imo.

Nice job on the box RS2, I ended up having a very long lunch break reading through this thread. Oops!
