Lol. He is a 50kg Rhodesian Ridgeback. To be fair he done his job in alerting us. I'm sure he would have tried to protect us if need be although the neighbour just informed us that she had seen 6 men outside our house just before the crime in the early hours.

As much as this sticks in my throat the 6 can be replaced.

I have had just one amusing thought.

The air con drain was blocked and I've had it on Econ to stop the footwell filling up with water, as after clearing the area behind the heat shield of leaves it appeared the grommet would not open.

So the passengers latest JD Sports trainers will be ruined.

Really sorry to hear about this Armyair. I too thought this kind of interest in our cars had passed and scum wouldn't be interested. Looks like we shouldn't get too complacent though I guess. Much as I don't want to say it I wouldn't have thought the resale value would be worth stealing it to sell on. Its a real kick in the teeth as a good example is getting harder to replace. I'm just hoping like you are that they have realised that petrol doesn't get them very far and parked it up leaving it for the police to discover in an unmolested state.

Regrettably they are attractive for similar reasons to why we like them. They are a great choice not to ship or strip but for use in the course of their 'business' because they are rapid and the Police can't stay with them especially when driven recklessly. If it comes to a bit of 'contact' then they are solidly built so can stay the course. They can move 5 big blokes and equipment in a fast discreet manner as to a lot of folk they're just a big estate car and don't draw attention. A lot of the current 'teams' are from the travelling community and they like this kind of car for use in other crimes like cash point removal and robberies.
Cars are usually taken ,driven away and then parked up for a day or so to see if they have tracker.
Not sure if it's still the case but forcing UPVC doors especially those not fully locked used to be the favourite way in to your house. A house alarm that sounds as soon as the door is opened is a good deterrent as is an old fashioned door chain. Lighting and visible security devices like steering wheel locks also help.Anything which increases their exposure time to getting caught or delays them getting away with the car will hopefully make them go elsewhere and try a less risky car.

You obviously know your onions. This is exactly what the police informed me. The slight twist was that in this area they believe it is the work of organised gangs rather than travelling communities. Transient crime from the two cities on my doorstep.

Gutted for you mate - it happened to me about 15 months ago.

Mine was parked up about two miles away for four days - then they backed it out of the lock up, and tracker had it in seconds. Police were there in under 30 mins, and recovered the car which, though it had been hammered, was mercifully largely unscathed.

The police decided not to do their usual watch on the car for exactly the reasons you mention. As the copper put it to me "We really don't want to try and chase your car, it will comfortably outrun even our helicopter!"

Really hoping that tracker comes up for you - presumably you haven't got anything else "trackable" in the car (eg Road Angel)

Dave

PS - check that the police are checking their ANPR system. They can set it to give automated alerts based not only on the Reg number, but on any RS6 of a particular colour. I had a call from them while mine was missing enquiring if I had been up to the Midlands recently - I had, the day it was stolen!

Thought I'd update. The Tracker has been activated and the car recovered near Bham.

I'm over the moon that the car is coming home but still very wary of it sitting on my drive again.

What an absolute Roller Coaster of a 2 days!!!!!

Great news! I suppose it's too much to hope that the thieving scum who nicked her have been caught?

Glad it's coming home! Fingers crossed unscathed.

I think I'd be feeling pretty homicidal if mine went missing. :(

I will get to see tomorrow when I hand the remaining key over at the police compound.

I'm not sure I should say too much of what is happening as it's an ongoing investigation. It's all a bit CSI at the moment so there may be a result on who done this.

I'm just glad I will get the beast back!

Many thanks all for your kind words.

When I first posted I had no hope for the return of my 6, and just wanted to make sure no informed buyer would fall into the pitfall of buying a ringer. I can only imagine what it must be like to loose your hard earned wedge should it be repossessed.
