Sad to hear that you've had bad times with yours.
Mine was running at half pressure, so they've re pressurised it back up and it's fine now.
Wonder what they will replace it with long term..?
Magnetic ride..?

Re: DRC re pressurising
My 5 is in for its 3rd visit. Audi have had a technical bulletin (really means we've tried everything try this) which allegedly says that the cold clunk is due to two highly machined surfaces having a small amount of play in the them so they have some "special grease" that will cure it. I sniff bull <beep>!
Okay with mine I have a rattle when the cars suspension has been loaded over a period of time. They are saying that the system is loosing 2psi but cannot find a leak. They think it ,ya be coming from a central control unit so are ordering one. Should hopefully get it back next week.

Re: DRC re pressurising
Update.
The system keeps loosing 2/3 PSI after being left. The system is completely dry but is loosing pressure. The only thing left is two accumulator valves that sit behind the rear bumper which have gas in one side and oil in the other. I think the gas pushes the oil around the system so they are in the process of replacing these.
There is also a technical bulletin saying about applying some special grease between the wheel and hub which they have also done.
Fingers crossed should have a result tomorrow.

Re: DRC re pressurising
My RS4 is at the dealer as I type, also with the front driver's side clonk.
Its already been back previously and had both front dampers replaced, DRC re-pressurised. Brought it home, went on holiday for a week, came back and when I moved the car I found a patch of oil under the front driver's wheel. Had a little feel and its it was dripping fluid. Took it back, unfortunately it was a rainy day so must have washed the dripping fluid away. They checked it and said it was just residual oil from the last repair!!! They checked the pressure and all checked out OK and sent me on my way. Now 4 weeks later, the clonk has come back.
Dealer called me yesterday and said they're waiting for another RS4 to come back in today to compare suspension noises. I suspect I'm gonna be fobbed of with "they all make the same noise, so its just the way the car is".
However, when I bought the car new it never had it, and when they replaced the shocks the first time round it didn't do it for 4 weeks.
I think I'm gonna blow a fit if I'm told I have to live with this clonk!!

Re: DRC re pressurising
A quick update.
The rattling seems to be cured, however the drivers side cold clonk has not. With the colder weather it is definitely more pronounced.
I am tempted to start a thread as we did back in 2007 just to see the numbers involved!

I did blow !!!!! I have copied and pasted my message below from another post but it gives you an idea of my experiences !Diddn wrote:My RS4 is at the dealer as I type, also with the front driver's side clonk.

As for the DRC thing...... It's certainly an issue when Audi tell you it's an unavoidable characteristic !!!!! Those two words would suggest to me this famous issue is in more cars than not.
My own car suffered from knocking DRC noises in both front suspension units, and Audi wouldnt even replace my shocks due to this knocking noise because they say it normal DRC operational noise, no components have failed, and all pressures are within Audi guidelines and tolerances. I have to be honest and say I'm not only angry with Audi, but disappointed that they are failing to look after their top end customers. This has been an on going issue with both RS4's and RS6's for about 12 years now.
Because of the way I have been treated by Audi, I make no apologises for telling others before purchase that if you buy one of these cars it is possible that you will have a knocking suspension. How many cars are affected I can't say for sure, but what I can say for sure is, it is possible, and if your happy to spend your money on a 60-70k car that might have this knock then it's simple, you pays your money and takes your chance. I wasn't happy and couldn't live with it on a daily basis so reluctantly sold my car. It's unfortunate as I have always loved RS cars, and I genuinely wouldn't have an issue if Audi were struggling to fix a fault as long as they we're trying, but the fact of the matter seems to be that Audi seem to be distancing themselves from the issue. But when they insulted my intelligence and tried to fob me off by saying it is an unavoidable characteristic I gave up on them.
I personally think suspension knocks in a 70k car is unacceptable, but others are happy to live with it ! I just feel I have to share my experiences !!!!!
Good luck with whatever you decide to do !!!!!
