Audi winter wheels fitted
Audi winter wheels fitted
I've mentioned previously that I had purchased the Audi 19" winter wheels for the RS4. Well today I got around to fitting them.. (I know... the car needs a wash too)
I'm sure they're not quite everyone's taste but personally I don't think they look too bad (not as good as the 20" rotors.. but not too bad). I couldn't find any photos of these online prior to purchase so though I should post a couple photos for information in anyone else is considering them.
Having sealed them with some Poorboys wheel sealant, I can also say that they are going to be a pig to keep clean as the slots are not quite wide enough to get into.

Thanks Eli. Can I ask you to take one more pic of the whole car side on, just to show the wheels in proportion to all of the car?
It's all torque talk.

They are only 8" wide on a 235 tyre.

Will do. tomorrow sometime.smudge wrote:Thanks Eli. Can I ask you to take one more pic of the whole car side on, just to show the wheels in proportion to all of the car?
I do agree but not that much as the wheels are on a different offset. Not as aggressive as the 20" rotors and to me looks a bit more sedate. I believe the intent from audi was to also allow clearance for the fitment of snow chains as well. Over all I wanted to run winters on a slightly smaller rim and a little thinner so it does the job.RIV wrote:Wheels look lost under those arches

Looks ok and if it keeps your summer wheels pristine then all the better.
Re: Audi winter wheels fitted
Looks terrible IMO, I'd rather slide around on summer tyres.
Re: Audi winter wheels fitted
They look absolutely fine
Its only for four months of the year - and a hell of a lot better than in Germany where pretty much all German cars run around on winter steelies.
And if it snows, promise yourself you take it out at night and have some fun!
With the ESP off, I was surprised how hard I had to provoke my B6 S4 to make it slide around. I went out three nights in a row in the fortnight white-out Feb 2012, a different mate in the passenger seat each time (bam bam, down boy!) country lanes in the middle of nowhere, away from other cars etc

WTF? They look really bad ... Why 8" wide? If they were any more inside the arch they'd rubbing against the drive shaft!

Spacers by the looks of it? And possibly thicker spacers at the rear than the fronts?

Re: Audi winter wheels fitted
I think the RS5's 19x9j versions look better for winter wheels, which is what I went for in the end along with a 255 section winter tyre.

Re: Audi winter wheels fitted
Winter wheels are designed to do a job and if it snows then the thinner wheels/tyres perform better.
I think too many people worry about the look rather than the performance. You can't see your wheels when you are sat in the driver seat so what is the problem?
Good job OP in my opinion.

Different shadows and angle I think. They seem to line up on same place on the arches.Ian_C wrote:Spacers by the looks of it? And possibly thicker spacers at the rear than the fronts?
I've had some mixed reviews from the guys at work as well, some think they look ok and others can't stand them. I agree they're not as good looking my summers, but I'm not too fussed as it's only for a few months and having spent almost twice the national average salary on a car (twice anything I've ever spent before) I'd rather maintain every chance of surviving winter intact. I learnt from experience that 4wd might help you get going in the winter, but I also kind of like the idea of stopping again after..lol
I might have considered the RS5 wheels, but these ones were offered with a large discount as a sweetener for some issues I'd had with the dealer.

Good for you bud - just remember to go for a midnight drive if it snows!
All my passengers said the same thing - "HOW do you do that" - when I braked to stop in the snow! Awesome fun
