For someone who understands nothing about the inner workings of a headlight can you explain in clear English what's being done here. Looking at the finished article they appear to look the same as a standard headlight to me?! Also what's a projector, I'm guessing it's different to the one bolted to the ceiling above me now

So in English.

The OEM Xenon's Have been modded, they come from factory with frosted (frensel) len's, these have been replaced with 100% optically clear one, they let the xenons shine further, make the cut off sharper and then also make them perform a lot wider than stock xenons.

The 2nd projector is in space of the fog light, when you unlock your car the light that comes on in the inner reflector is halogen, this gap has been modded and a 2nd xenon projector added.

If you look at the picture and look at your car you will see where the projector has been added, I have done them in such a way that you cant tell the headlight has been modded unless you have a keen eye for these details, My mate commented when I showed him the lights before fitting them back in the car and he said "you haven't done nothing", that's how OEM I have made them look.

Even when I go to Daves and put them on his wall his 1st comment was I thought you was putting a projector in, I was like I have, I have just covered it well haha.

Everything Dave had done was £500 total, total of 20hours work involved.

Not cheap but well worth it if you want to breath a refreshment into your lights.

To those who are thinking about doing this mod... 500 + CBI+HID fogs IMO was well worth the effort and cost. The transformation in the lighting and the look of the head lights when they are on is just awesome. Before this mod, I thought my Merc E-coupe and the R8 GT lighting were good but now they are pretty normal in comparison.

My drivers side dipped beam bulb sometimes works, sometimes doesn't come on.

Is this likely to be a bulb or ballast? I'd have thought if a bulb had failed, it failed. This is intermittent. If it comes on it won't go off, but sometimes won't come on at all.

Audi say front end off to change the bulb £400+ at normal labour rates, and then will have to go to another dealer to have the radar cruise re-calibrated?

Daves has adaptive cruise and I have had the bumper on his car off a few times and never had to re calibrate, all you do is take the bumper off and it will rest in front of the car, no need to remove it fully so no need to even undo the wire going to it.

There are 3 parts that could be the issue here Amar, The bulb, the igniter on that goes on the rear of the bulb or the ballast, anyone of these could be the issue, as you say if the bulb was at fault it would of gone a funny colour then would not come on.

I know its a PITA to swap parts from one end to another to see what it could be but its not that hard to remove the bumper, I can have one removed within 15mins, when I did Classba's lights I got there for 10 am, had the lights off the car and was on my way by 10.50 am and that was with securing the bumper back on so he could move the car if he needed to.

Are the ballast/igniters fitted to the headlamp?

Nope, I didn't mean to order the dipped bulbs from you, just the fog ones but I don't think I was clear in my PM and ended up ordering both! I kept them as spares anyway. An hour isn't too bad then, it's finding the time. I'll hit you up if I struggle then.
