First of all what a good photo of 3 very different rs4's
Hats of to revolution for sorting your problems
I do hope your going to get back to Audi on their very poor knowledge of this problem :audibash:

Agree with Riv, for all our sakes you should contact Audi and complain, that's a ridiculous state of affairs. Your car looks 'swag' as my 13 year old would say, mine is prism with optics and rotors but won't be here for a few months yet, going to be a long, hard winter!!!

Glad you got to the bottom of it now...

Just shows what the they get up to and the question is to why not just fix it rather than try and hide it.
:?

Nice to know there's a VCDS fix for it though - well spotted!

Happy to have a meet up North at our HQ anytime too

Just got mine back from the dealer to correct the slight steering wheel to the right issue / pull to the left.

Couple weeks ago, finally got round to booking min in to have the slightly offset steering sorted. Booked in and they tried the quick fix, of clocking the wheel on the spline to the left. collected it, and this almost worked, but it was now to the left a fraction. So a quick test drive with the tech and it was re-booked to get a full alignment and re calibration of all systems (Cruise, Dynamic Steering, Lane Assist etc)

Dropped it off yesterday, it was booked in overnight to take the time pressure off the tech as its such an involved process. Just collected this morning and its now spot on.
Chatting with the tech and the only adjustments it required were a minor tweak to the front Toe, and then everything re-calibrated as per factory.

I noticed today, that mine seems to have gone slightly out of alignment. It's only a couple of deg, but it's enough to irritate me
I'll drop in Monday and have a chat with the master tech and see what he says
Only seems to have gone out since I've started to use the Lane keep assist more - car's on a smudge over 3k miles now

It's strange, mine is dead centre most of the time now. But on the odd day it will be slightly to one side or the other, almost like it does a self calibration when you start the car, and sometimes it's maybe a degree out. :-/

Funny you say that, as today mine's a few degrees counterclockwise, but I'm convinced it was the other way just a couple of days back

Hi Andy
How long did they have your car for as they want mine for 2-3 days ?
Seems a little excessive to me

Mine was the same. In my case it was because the dealer didn't have the Hunter alignment set up, so they had to put the car on a trailer to their body Shop 40 miles away.

They also said only the body Shop could recalibrate the lane assist etc.

The Audi system is not a basic hunter alignment system. The calibration etc is all done straight after the alignment is set.

Audi have 8hrs down to carry out the work. In my case they booked the car in for 2days so that the tech had plenty time. I had the car back lunchtime the following day.

Audi Swindon had my car a week as alignment system didn't have the codes for RS4's when it first arrived (?!?!?)
Car was fine initial yesterday when I picked it up, but seems to have crept back to being a couple of deg out of alignment already after only 50 or so miles
Looks like it's going back in tomorrow morning :(

Dud they tell you exactly what it was that had to be reset as I can try and pass that info onto the master tech ?

Funnily enough that's exactly what mine was doing. I allowed them to drive it back from their body Shop at Newcastle back down to Teesside. Each time they swore it was straight when it left Newcastle, but 50 miles later was exactly the same as it always was.

Tell them to re-do the calibration on the active steering module, but starting with the steering in the 'wrong' position, not set straight. I'd be interested to see how the dealer would do it, as opposed to me on my drive with VCDS!

Quick update on my car ;
Audi had the car in again for it's first service, and have decided (after some communication with Audi uk) that the cause of the steering misalignment is down to a faulty 'steering motor' and that they've ordered in another, which they'll fit next week once it arrives.
ironically, they get the car on the alignment jig today to get the data over to Audi uk and calibrate everything into the 'green zone' settings, and it's now actually worse than whenI took it in this morning.. go figure
Anyway, they're confident that the new strg motor and recalibration will sort it as apparently Audi uk have seen a few of these now, and that's the known fix.....

Interesting, thanks for that. I've messed on re-calibrating mine a few times now, but I've never been convinced that it's 100% 'normal'. I'll be having words. :-)

Just got my car back and it appears to be fixed
Dealer changed the steering motor as promised and, it appears, the whole column too as well as doing a full hunter alignment and geo check
Anyway, seems to be fixed, and I'm sure Swindon Audi are thankful for the warranty pennies on a what ended up as a full two day job (and tech seems to have enjoyed it as it did 50 miles at an average 13mpg, so nailed it all the way)
