Yep, that's a good idea. I've got some questions from you all to take to them today via email so I'll mention this :)

Via my MP I had an email debate with the Minister for Transport about this issue earlier this year, and was stunned by his final reply.

So long as the SRS (airbag) light is OFF then there's no issue about passing the MOT (unlike the ABS light it does NOT have to illuminate on ignition on).

Having said that your insurance company probably wouldn't be too happy about not having a working airbag...

Did you hear anything back yet Ross ? I'm about to push the button on a wheel that will take the round airbag for the 'loaner' :biggrin3:

Interested in the alcantara one but how does it stand up over time ?

Is the leather solid or perforated

Does anyone have any pics of an alcantara one please

I have an alcantara wheel with 52k miles of wear. It looks pretty awful tbh and it looked the same at 42k when I bought the car. I'm sure adrian d had his alcantara one re trimmed but it didn't fair very well and he has now swapped to a leather one. I think I'm going to go for the alcantara one again though. I've looked around on the net and you just need to clean it every few thousand miles to prolong its life it would seem.

I can take you some pics tomorrow.

Yeah I thought so.

If you could take some pics that would be great. I was thinking the matte alcantara against the my carbon wheel would go well. The leather on mine is a bit shiney.

Sorry guys I've had a really hectic week. I drafted an email with a few more questions for Royal the other day - I'll get all the questions you have all asked over to them today and let you know when I have a reply :)

Ok - I've emailed them today guys, and I'm waiting for the answers to your questions.

I proposed a secret group buy code so those who want to pay now but wait until winter or whatever to actually send the wheel off can do. :)

Sorry about the delay, I've not been near the car all weekend. Like I said, I'm sure with a bit of maintenance this state would be avoidable.

I've had suede wheels in previous track cars over the years, and yes they do wear quickly, but regular use of a suede brush to lift the fibers will keep it looking better! Plus if you regularly use a wheel cover that will also prolong the life. It's not the pressure of holding the wheel it's the dirt and grease on your hands! So keep your hands clean and dry!! :D

Thanks for the pics. I think I'll go for the Leather one tbh is it perforated or solid?

They do perforated and solid I had half and half on my m5 but in hindsight I would have had all solid as it feels nicer to hold
Only thing is perforated is standard in rs4 so not sure what it will look like
