Advice - 100k+ RS4 Advant? Would you
Re: Advice - 100k+ RS4 Advant? Would you
Mr RS6 has done 140k miles and other than known issues she's a beaut, very little corrosion, engine is running strong. I know the RS4 isn't the same and has it's own problems/querks, but these cars are good for a lot of mileage. I'd worry more about condition than mileage.

I had heard that Craig had stopped doing retrofitting, if he has then the "go to" person would be NHN over on audi-sport.netTimDogg wrote:Craig Barnes will retrofit the RNS-E Nav for £500 - I have his number somewhere, Chester based I think.

Hi Paza.
did you make contact with the seller of this car at all ?? was it in Brackley ?
i've literally just viewed the car today !! stumbled across it late last week (really wasn't considering buying one)
Its strange that the car was for sale in England though.... i gather its a one owner car and spent its life in N Ireland....
i actually spoke to the specialist who maintained it today too... and am VERY seriously considering buying it.
its now with a local dealer (n ireland) and i drove it today... it has some VERY minor marks on the paintwork - but presents above average for a car with 112k miles in my opinion.. and internally is perfect.

I ticked over 130,000 miles in the RS today.
No "impending doom" light came on or anything. Bitterly disappointed. :/

I actually asked Hitchin Audi about this on a service some time ago - the official reply is that the chain and tensioners are designed for the "lifetime of the car". So I've no plans to change them yet - unless someone has some conclusive reason why I should? Have there been any cases of failure?coffey555 wrote:You changing the chains and tensioners at 155,000?

I remember reading an interview with the engine designer and he said the engine was good for 155,000 miles before it needed any major work.
No idea what 'major work' entails but new chains and tensioners seems like a good place to start as they will wear and stretch over time. Will probably do water and oil pumps at the same time.
The S4 had some issues with chains breaking but they use different tensioners.
My one is sitting on 127,000 so quite pleased there is now a guinea pig ahead of me in the mileage stakes now!
By the sounds of things, your car is 50% brand new as well
