Nah, the fuel pump is mounted in the tank from the top. The bottom of the pump sucks up fuel through a gauze type filter that is fixed to the pump housing and sits just off the bottom. Still its not good practice to run the tank too low as there is more crude toward the bottom that will kick up when low. Also water sinks to the bottom of the tank as its heavier than the petrol and so you could suck up that along with the fuel resulting in a crappy burn and loss in performance.redrsr wrote:Never quite worked out if this is true, a fuel tank empties from the bottom, would expect any crap in the fuel after a fill to be the first to be sucked out, am I missing something?Ranger Rico wrote:don't do it it will be all the dirty fuel at the bottom.
Also I'm sure that the warning light comes on at different times dependant on how your driving at the time. I've had it on at 25 miles and at 50 miles. You can always get to the actual remaining miles using the + and - buttons though.
