Thanks for that, I think the problem was I chose the insignia with my head even though I wanted the rs4, that and the wife telling me not to buy a 7 year old car.

The insignia is a good car, has all the toys, including nearly every option and now has 370bhp so is not slow, but still find myself looking on autotrader and the like at rs4's
I was in the same boat until eventually I decided that I needed to have one before they all became too old to be a viable ride (I need a daily driver not a garage queen). I'm not capable of techno jargon but they are expensive to tinker with and Audi dealers will take the shirt of your back. But get a good one that's been cared for and suddenly your 370bhp Insignia will seem like a distant memory. Hit that S button and take off up the road like a ballistic missile and watch 99.9% of other cars disappear in your rear view mirror - and all this with a soundtrack that will make a grown man cry... After hearing a skilled heel n toe deceleration with that V8 popping away, you will immediately forget all your VXR's toys! Like Clarkson said - "Your probably sitting just 3 feet away from the greatest engine ever made!"

Go get some test drives!
2013 Guards Red 991 Carrera - VERY MUCH Arrived.

Thanks for that, Im in the same boat really, I need a daily car and don't want something with loads of miles on it, not that many nice low milage ones left and they are only getting older.

But could also be ordered separately, like I did - when I ordered the Tech Pack wasn't even on the price list (it got added later in 2006).
Yes you are right. I thought you mentioned previously that you didn't spec the Tech Pack because it was cheaper to get Adaptive lights and then fit the rest yourself through the parts department?

Earliest brochure I have is Edition 4, May/06 and the Tech Pack is listed in there.

It wasn't in the brochure when I ordered in February '06, and Camberley Audi came back to me just before build date was confirmed to check if I wanted to change anything and stayed with my original order (I could get an RNS-E etc. from my European contacts for a lot less than the difference between Adaptive lights and the Tech Pack).

Interesting to know Dave, thanks.

You must be one of the last original owners of the B7 RS4.

Thanks for all the help guys, hopefully putting the insignia up for sale this week so will be stepping up the search. What are peoples opinions of buying privately rather than from a garage and the risks involved, seen what looks like a nice private example and has the spec I'm after apart from phone holder which I don't won't http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/ ... sh/2691380

Think Neil secretly wants a bread van [read avant] but he will never admit it! :thumb:
Yea, coz my HOT BAGUETTE is always hanging out the back when I make 'deliveries' :biggrin2:

A bigger arse on a RS4 means you can get more flour and yeast in when making a LOT OF BREAD! :bigblink:
But if you buy a saloon you'll need to get used to people trying to hail you in the street, you'll only be allowed to park in taxi ranks, and you'll have to adapt to the smell of vomit in the back of the car after a late Saturday night shift :D

That's no problem. Taxi lanes can be quite useful and I'm sure my 6 month old will be able to help with the sick smell if required.

I actually would say this is prob something that if its not done and then defo should be factored in when you puchase the car. Eveyone on here who has done a dyno has noted down on power and nowadays a CC is very common on these cars.

Many thanks. Nice rs4 but after one with the full bucket seats and ideally that's not been modified as the jump in insurance for just an exhaust is extreme, doubles the quote
