TowBar

Post by VARSITY » Mon Aug 04, 2014 5:52 pm

Why can't we have tow bars on the C7 RS6?

I want one so I can take my rusty Lil Red Wagon to VeeDub shows.

Answers on a postcard please!

You can have a tow bar, the only restrictions are that you cannot specify a tow bar in conjunction with DRC or with the carbon trim pack, so you have to have the standard air suspension and you can have the Aluminium trim pack or keep with the standard trims.

OK, I have all those things, I think, so why can't I have a tow bar?

If you have all those things you CANNOT have a towbar.

You have dynamic pack? Game over for the tow bar.

Audi will only fit you a tow bar on a car that has a self-levelling function. The standard air suspension has a self-levelling function but DRC doesn't. The carbon kit presumably fits where the tow bar goes and Audi doesn't bother making a separate carbon kit for cars with a tow bar.

The carbon rear is the same as the standard rear diffuser as we seen this last week.

So, the part numbers are all the same for the tow bar and the bumper bar is the same on all models, so why?

I don't want to tow my hotdog stand, just carry my bikes.

No idea what the story is on the carbon. I also want to tow a trailer, so I am sticking with air suspension and avoiding the carbon kit, which I would do, anyway, as just looking at the cost in the price list makes my head hurt.

I have the carbon exterior package and dynamic package too, so would also be interested to know if anyone has managed to fit a tow bar for carrying bikes.
Do RS6s fitted with a tow bar have part of the rear diffuser cut away?

Could it be that its not to do with the self levelling, but more the extra load that would be shoved through the drc's front/rear links.
