Caliper Color..

Post by motoharu » Mon Jul 28, 2014 12:14 am

I'm thinking about getting my calipers painted.

Besides stock silver and black what other options were there from factory?
Car is daytona, 5 spoke wheels dark gray (Plus), I really want something different, not OTT but a little "pop" would be nice, like dark orange, what do you think?

cheers..

Stock OEM steel calipers are in black and the ceramic calipers are in grey.

Try pink if you wanna be different.... lol

Nice one mate go for what you fancy but not too bright if you know what i mean like pink :D . Like mentioned anything u like but keep it looking clean cut and bright instead of something that will ruin.

@classba Dude, not that different.. ;)
Mine are ceramic/gray, they get lost in all that dark gray, it seems to me dark orange might look good with daytona, should model and see how it looks..

Lol, the pink was only a joke. :bigblink:

On a serious note... you can try deep matte red what's on the R8 GT calipers staying with the Audi theme.

Lime green is nice but too too much, plus, with daytona gray :?

@Ungjaevel: I had them painted on my previous RS6 (09 my), and they did a fine job except messing up my breaks..
The problem was; you can't pump the breaks, add break fluid etc. to get rid of the air bubbles, you need a machine to clean the bubbles, at least that was the problem on mine..

Dude, awesome, that's exactly what I was looking for, and tell me if this isn't looking subtle but at the same time menacing..
Now, all I have to find is the paint code and decide what color to print the Audi Ceramic Sticker..
The lettering and the border of the square will be white as original, but what about the square, black?

ps: didn't you get the rears painted?

Nice brakes
Looks like a bored Mrs inside ?
Just like mine when it comes to my RS4
Good thread as I had my callipers remanufactured in standard black and fancy something different too. My cars Mugello blue so I might go for the red as pictured above.
Mind you marker pink would go with blue :D

Cheers Motoharu!!!!

Yeah it took me a wee while to decide on the colour, I was also after something that wasn't too in your face, and obviously it had to compliment the Daytona, which it think it does.

The colour is Lambo Orange and they were re-furbed at the http://www.brake-caliper-painting.com they did a great job and at a reasonable cost, but it did take them a while.

Its always difficult to decide on even small details like decal colours, black will be safe and will look good I reckon.

I'll be getting the rears done at some point too. When I tried to get them off it was becoming a bit of a chore and I didn't have the right tools so I sacked it off, if I remember It was difficult to get to the bolts for the calliper carriers.

Mind and get the pics up when you get yours done!!!

Yeah they certainly do!!!

However I've used them twice and waited around 3 weeks on both occasions. It wasn't a problem for me as the car was off the road over the winter, but if you are looking for a quick turnaround be aware that your calipers may not be returned to you in the stated time frame on their website.

But, would I use them again???? Yes I would, as I was more than happy with the end product and costings. :nodder:

Call them up and and talk to Barnaby, he seems like a good lad to deal with.
