Oil light??

Oil light??

My oil light keeps coming on saying min!
But the level on the dip stick is on max!
If i put a tiny bit of oil in the light goes off!

Has anyone had this before?

Faulty low oil level sensor?

I believe a few have suffered from it?

I might be wrong but I believe the sensor is stupid money???

No way! Where is the sensor! Does it bolt onto the bottom of the sump?

just shy of £500 for the sensor (not sure if that covered labour and new oil or not)

Before you jump to the conclusion being the oil level sensor, make sure you check your oil level properly as per the manual on a flat surface. If it's on the lower half then add 1 lt of oil will be suffice.

Failing that then it's gonna be the oil sensor I'm afraid.

Check oil level:

Drive the car until you reach 100 degrees oil temp.
Stop and idle for 3 mins.
Switch car off
Wait 3 mins
NOW check the oil level.
Too much power is barely enough.

Not sure where the oil level sensor is. You can check Elsawin or google: partsbase.org

Just checked the oil how you said!

It was about 5mm down from the line where is says do not fill!
I put a tiny bit of oil in and the light has gone out!

No worries... stage 2 do drink a bit of oil and also depends on your driving style. My oil consumption is about 1/2 lt every 2000 miles but I Caine it all the time. :bigblink:
