RS4 B8 TMC Traffic not working?

Please can anyone confirm how the Traffic Messages via TMC should work? I have had my RS4 for a month now and never had a single traffic message, yet on my Ford there have been hundreds of TMC messages. I have done all the obvious and all i ever get is the message "No TMC messages available" despite the TMC symbol being 'Active'.

I took it to my local dealer who told me that it was working properly and explained that i would only get a message if the route had actually been altered by the Dynamic Traffic Avoidance. Not sure i believe them. My old 09 A4 brought up TMC messages even with no route set, i seem to remember?

Surely it should show the list of TMC messages being broadcast? That is how the instruction manual makes it look like what was intended.

I would be very grateful for any help - i live up north and the detours are long if A9 or A82 are blocked - hence TMC very useful!

You can go into a part of the menu to see messages, but i don't recall where it is. I haven't seen any messages forced, but i have seen the messages by hunting around & also I have had routes alter due to traffic conditions for sure.

I'll see if I can find where it is.

Thanks Smudge, when in Nav mode, Info appears on top right of screen, which can be selected by pressing the top right button by rotary dial thing. I would then expect to see a list of Traffic messages but all it ever says is "No TMC messages available"

Do you get messages even when no destination or route set? Or is it only messages that affect your route when a destination is entered?

TMC messages are always too old to matter....ignore it and go for a hoon!!
