Excuse my ignorance, but isn't it the evaporation of water that leaves the water marks ?
I think it's the hardness in the water that makes the marks, the reverse osmosis stop the water from marking the paint, correct me if I'm wrong

Chaps, it's the impurities in the water and hence filtering to 0ppm that allows you if you wanted to, leave a wet paintwork to dry normally - even without blowing. Same principle as commercial and now many domestic window cleaners - they use purified water to clean windows and allow them to dry naturally. The hardness would mean the filter would have have to work harder or not depending on the area you live in.

The leaf blower, with a coating and purified water simply streaks the water off completely...

But is it possible to (non commercial) filter to 0ppm from a hose ? I didn't think it was without spending £000's

Great car, great thread. Really interested to see how the ceramic coating holds up. Also looking forward to some beading pics.

I bet you don't do that with your new red one. You only have to look at the paintwork and it scratches, it's so soft.

That was their 5* wash and wax. Normally £5 for quick scrub
£3's good value . What do they steal out your car for that ?

Some info on what's on the car :beerchug:
Platinum Paint & Wheels are actually quartz coatings - there are glass, ceramic & quartz coatings. All are very similar, and it's just become a general term to call them ceramic or 'semi permenant' coatings, hence it being listed as that on your invoice and me keep referring to it as that - sorry for any confusion. I meant to say yesterday, it's been on the back of my van now for 10 months and is still protecting as strongly as it did on day 1. Generally coatings fail quickest on the rear of vehicles due to exhaust gases and general higher levels of dirt build up. I've deliberately not topped the coating up, and have washed it regularly both normally and with strong chemicals and it's still going. You will find that the beading isn't as tight as a wax, but the water sheeting is much stronger. If you wash the car and rinse with a pressure washer as per normal, then rinse with an open hose afterwards you will find the water sheets off more effectively leaving you less to dry. Alternatively, rinse with 0PPM filtered water and leave it to dry naturally.
