That'll be cause of the chatter then - not the clutch :)

Did you replace the flywheel?
My clutch was working well most of the time. It got "sticky" if I went through 1-3 gears and shifted near the redline. I never rev the engine to redline while stand still. So I surely didn't upgrade because of that. I was getting tired of car not behaving like it should 100% of the time. Maybe you don't mind pulling the pedal up (even if it's bad shift from your part), but I got tired of it. As I said, it's the best 2 grand I've spent on the car.

Yes, clutch and flywheel.

Yeah that's not working very well at all. If you can't wind a high revving engine out to redline without it failing, what's the point. I'd have addressed it too. Problem with the slave/master fix is the labour approaches a clutch job so may as well go all the way.

Not sure if it is the same issue, but on Saturday while driving the rs the clutch pedal stuck to the floor and I had to get my foot under it to release it..but now I am struggling to change gear at all limped the five min drive back home in third..had a nightmare getting into reverse to put it into the garage, and when I got out there was that horrible clutch smell..left the car and started it up again Sunday morning, and when pushing the clutch pedal to the floor could hear a hissing noise and this would stop as I lifted the clutch pedal tried this another two times and did exactly the same thing.. :boohoo:

Quite a couple of minute spirited drive not crazy mad...but was in second and went to change into third at about 7k on the rev range...

Tbh mate...the more I think about it, it makes more sense to get them to do the lot at once. And then it's done, the car has not let me down in 5 and a half years and I am planning on keeping it at least another year as there is no super saloons about barring the c63 which sounds epic, but IMO is not as good as the rs in every day use..

True, least you know it's all been replaced and one less job that may need doing in the future.

Have you had the new clutch return pipe fitted yet?

Mine had the pedal staying down with the clutch smell, Camberley changed the pipe, and now all ok

It's a 3hr job and it's about £420, apparently the pipe gets hot and the inside wall collapses or swells and becomes restricted so the hydraulic fluid cannot get away.

The new pipe resolves this

Have had the modified clutch return pipe done about three years ago ..not saying that has not failed though as it could have done...
