Random after market switch and LED
Re: Random after market switch and LED
One in the side two underneath one each side 8mm socket for all. Pull top part (held in by clips) and yeah about 23-man.

Cheers boys,
I'm out in Canada at the moment and then off the Le Mans as soon as I get back and then off the Austria after that! So might be a few weeks before I get to pull that dash off...

If it is a jammer and you are taking the car to Le Mans then remember the French plod take a dim view of such devices.
Re: Random after market switch and LED
Yeah that is true, I will try and get it all apart before I leave.

You have a switch just turn it off.

Mine makes a bleep when turned on, I suspect your's will do the same and the light will go out.

Re: Random after market switch and LED
Problem is that if you are pulled for whatever reason (made up or otherwise) and they suspect that a jammer is fitted then they can fine you and you have to either remove the device then and there (and have it confiscated) or if removing is not practical at the side of the road they can impound the vehicle.docurley wrote:You have a switch just turn it off.
A colleague got caught out like this with a "garage door opener" and had all kinds of bother.
Re: Random after market switch and LED
This is true. TomTom had meetings with French authorities about recording locations of speed cameras static and moveable. The tethered 3G connect going have via my iPhone to the TomTom reports live cameras from their servers. In france, these are called 'danger zones' and that's the way they have got around it. Outside that scenario, then French will easily make an example...

Re: Random after market switch and LED
But as I understand these are legit garage opening devices so can they really have you for using it as a jammer?

Re: Random after market switch and LED
You have to prove it is a garage door opener and not a laser jammer. Not the other way around.
If it's factory fit then much easier. However after market stuff is a bit hit n miss. At the end of the day if the french plod standing right in front of you feels like it's a jammer then they will have the car impounded. I will leave as an exercise to the thread viewers how having a GB plate sways their decision one way or the other.

Re: Random after market switch and LED
When you're on the Autoroute there's no need to have a garage opener turned on, so that's a very weak case - and since under Napoleonic Law you have to prove your innocence, good luck with that argument...docurley wrote:But as I understand these are legit garage opening devices so can they really have you for using it as a jammer?

Fair does but I would not have it turned on.
