Interiors are interesting, may have had this debate before, but I really find the BMW a bit naff. I don't like that one piece sweeping dash. Merc is OK, but that bloody analogue clock is old fart.
Pah, only RS is Avant.
I haven't had a C7 RS6, but owned a C5 RS6 Saloon for a while (& spunked a load of cash modifying it) Did have a C7 RS6 on extended test drive & personally i felt that although there was no doubting it's ballistic performance, it felt a little more disconnected from the driver than i've found the M5 is. The steering & general chassis didn't feel quite as composed as i felt it should with all that power, however it certainly is a beast.
Having owned numerous Audi's & we still have a Q5 in the family, i just feel that Audi are 1/2 a generation behind BMW when it comes to interiors & tech. Also Audi even with the RS, charge for things that BMW put as standard on the M's. The interior of the current C7 isn't that far removed from our 5yr old Q5, albeit it's still a great place to spend time behind the wheel.
The other vast factor for me was cost as i'm in a £75k performance saloon but am paying half what Audi wanted for a comparable RS6 so it really was a no brainer for me

& caused my current move to the dark side. I'm sure i'll be back, but like they say, "a change is as good as a rest":)
I'm not a BMW guru so can't comment on the entire range & how they look/feel/drive as my interest to be fair is only in the M (proper M), as is it also in S's & RS's with Audi. Had a 318D loaner & tbh i'd rather take an A3 or even a Golf, but also just handed back an M50D that i had for 5 weeks & that was insane & i'd have one of those in a heartbeat it was that good:)
For whatever reason & i know not why, i've never been a fan of Estate cars & have always much preferred Saloons. If the C7 had been available in Saloon form & Audi had been more sensible when dealing then it's possible i'd have opted for a C7 RS6, but that's not the case so i'll slum it in this M5 for now
