I'd prefer Non-res but would like to keep the valves

Would anyone recommend an upgraded airbox aswell or would it not be worth doing?
Whereabouts in the west mids are you, there is a meet next Tuesday in Stourbridge not sure of time yet but will find out ASAP, your more than welcome to have a listen to my system, non res with valves :bigwave:

Yes, its my car. The back box is a Tubi rumore (the loud one). That was mated to a Milltek non-res centre section and H-pipe to make up a cat back system. This meant I didnt have to cut up the OEM exhaust should I want to put ut back on or sell it. I also tried it with a resonated centre section which took some of the bark away. Definitely not a set up if you have any close neighbours.
The tubi back box doesn't naturately mate with the milltek parts so had to be cut slightly to make them meet up in the right place. The back box is £2K. The centre sections are 2-400 pounds I think depending on whether you buy res or non res. I think the h pipe was about another 150 quid or so.

Sounds a nice system Mike, nice bark on acceleration. What's it like driving through town, does it get a little boomy, also what's it like at motorway speeds. They must here you coming when you boot it, and I see what you mean when you get a sonic boom effect when you go past larger vehicles, must frighten the <beep> out of them.
I've noticed with mine is that when you over take the valves open just as you go past the drivers door, went past a couple of old dears tonight and I'm sure they swerved

What people are also forgetting is that the jhm one is 2.75" and all others including the weldfab one are 2.5 or less,

Through town it's fine. On motorways it's fine. The worst bit is when on 60 mph single carriageway with other cars cruising at about 50 as that's when I'd normally be in 5th or 6th at about 2000 rpm and that's when it drones. But that is why you have a big stereo so you can just drown it out. Forget about trying to have a conversation in the car at any speed though without shouting, and that's in the winter with the windows closed

Same as mine then at 50 it does drone which is irritating above or below is fine at 60-80 you can chat merrily away but after it goes past 5k on the rev counter you've no chance

Blimey 2k for a back box! after hearing it though it does seem worth it! best get saving my money up. Yeah makes sense making it so you can refit the OEM exhaust if you needed to.. Thanks for the info

All this talk bout gutting the precats makes me think I'll do it myself, I've seen the how to on here but wonder, is it a big job to remove the DP,s from the car ?

By the sounds of things im in roughly the same boat as the OP , when the time comes im 99% sure I`ll go JCWF (Props out JCWF your work looks and sounds amazing  ) & some sort of panel filter not sure which atm.
Now this has probably been covered somewhere already, will I need a remap initially or will it run as it is until my wallet recovers enough for the trip to mrc for stage ?? remapping ???

Nice choice sterling! I have a JCWF system, and from Wellingborough to Kent and then MRC the following day there were no errors. So, yes you can.

Panel filter, I went piper cross. It's a dry element filter and not oiled like K&N - I wanted to be sure the airbox had no oiled filter in there - I ran K&N for a few months and as the filter is upright, gravity took it's toll and some excess oil leeched out - the air box flap is at the bottom and needs to further encouragement to stick!

Piper cross shop are doing free delivery in may. :)

No probs with MOT. Flew through every time. It still has standard cats so emissions are not an issue just the noise which is at the testers discretion. The police is another matter though. Any modification to make the exhaust noisier than standard us illegal as they keep pointing out to me (which makes the Millteks and welfabs all illegal too).
