the box could of gone at any time back when i had it at 76k, 14k miles later at 90k the original box has finally given up with a stage 1 remap
it was only a matter of time sadly, anyone who drove that car hard would quickly realize the box was faulty,
when i finally got vagcom i could see the transmission fault code was there

As jj said we have been talking since he noticed I bought the car and the tc code was taken into account and was in the back of my mind. Ive had discussions with grizz ongoing for a while but never had the time to get the car from centrL Scotland down to Liverpool due to work and the only downside now is any funds I had set aside for when it went (and everyone knows theyre going to go anyway) got swallowed up by the paint job which stretched to 8.4k with parts. I do have a stash of rather decent wheels and parts I can part with to raise the cash in the meantime or ill just wait and save it back up a d itll get done along with stage 2.
By no means has the car had an easy life since I got it though. The pistonheads run probably took 5000 miles of life in the 500 miles we done, I done the run the runway event and its made its way south a few times for car shows so I dont feel hard done to really, its just unfortunate that its happened right after the paint job. Itll be back smoother and faster and hopefully at somepoint itll also have new seats.

New wheels arrived today. Wish the gearbox had went earlier but the A8 is hopefully away which starts to release fix funds

Tried the new wheels today and from the get go it was a disaster. Migrained up isnt a great mode to be doing anything so all I could do after lifting the wrong adaptors was tape two ten mm spacers together and lie the wheels up against the hub with no weight on them. They are fairly pokey with 20mm of spacers but there was no weight on the suspension so never even had camber in my favour. Going to go with 15mm adaptors and the supersports of the mulliners while they (mulliners) get redone and then hope with weight and camber and the narrower adaptors I should be able to run them. I'll have the cayenne wheels as back up in case it goes pete tong
