Strong money yet slated by pretty much everyone. Must be the RS badge.

Its the low production.
I should have bought one when I had the chance at 20% discount

A well spec'd S3 saloon worked out to be just short of £39k. But what a great package with all the options.

Have you tried the MMI touch? It's really quite good. I think my S3 SB s-tronic was 40k when specced new. I bought mine with 6k on the clock so picked it up for 33k.

Mine got specced with all the assistance and tech systems and most of them are pretty good and makes a bottom of the range S car quite the package really.

Would that have made it easier to swallow based on your feelings on the RS 3?

Good write up by Harris - loved it compared to the outgoing RS3. Fairly basic manual 3dr test car in white with body coloured mirrors and black optics. Is the Dynamic steering optional?

Your ideal spec Ian, Billy basic...pity it didn't have the 15" steels.

LOL

Just paraphrasing Mr Harris "The car had a manual gearbox and only the lightest smattering of options. The beauty of three-pedal cars....."

It cannot be that bad a spec - at a glance body coloured mirrors, black optics, privacy, heated seats, MMI Touch, rear parking, auto wipers and lights (hence probably the comfort pack as it looks like cruise control too) edit - and B&O

The car I drove was a manual and it was quite simply joyous after EVERY car at the Millbrook day being automatic

Bloody hell, Harris has now liked two Audis in a row. RS 6 and S3.

As I said the S3 is a great car and the best S car I have driven overall.

In about 7 years yes. So that's about 4 k a year on a reasonably specced one.

I'd expect a 7 year old S4 to go for a few grand more so it appears relative. Trick is not to buy new as I learnt with my B8s.

Factor in the tiny running costs and a used S3 is the way to go (at least that's what I figured out, hence . . . ).
