Avant boot trim removal?

Post by R55ENS » Tue Apr 01, 2014 8:14 pm

Anyone know how to remove the passenger side boot trim? It's the part that covers the standard tv receiver. I need to get it off so I can replace the tv antenna!

I removed the silver trim across the opening, the 2 lashing eye things, and a screw to the rear, but it just won't budge!! And tips before I break something??

Cheers, Tom

I had to do this to change out the TPMS module a few months back.

If I remember rightly, you have done exactly what I did, you have to pull the trim out at the bottom whilst pushing the whole thing upwards to get the trim to unseat just below the window. I also slackened off the mount for the rear seat back but that was not required.

There are some metal clips that you cannot access holding the upper section in place that need a bit of brute force and waggling to dislodge. Make sure you line them up with the mounting holes when refitting. They are a couple of inches below the window line.

Quite tricky at first but like anything, it is much easier once you have it all apart and can see how it goes together.

Cheers for the reply!!

So it's pull out at the bottom, then push the panel up? I didn't want to force it without knowing I was going right!! :biggrin3:

Thanks, Tom

It's mostly back together. I've just left the upper clips out so I can slip the new antenna through to the window. Once it's in I can just push it into place and hope for the best!! Hopefully no creaks!!

I've also had a go at tidying the shambles of the so install of the digi receiver. Definitely wasn't an auto electrician!! :bash:

Thanks again for the info!!

You are welcome. That is why I like this forum, there is normally someone on here that has had a go at fixing your issue before you!

Sorry to bring this up again, but can anyone point me in the direction of a step by step removal guide of the 2 pieces of plastic trim on either side of the avant's haunches? Mine have become brittle and creak alot, so i plan to (carefully) remove them and have them treated/coated/moisturised before putting them back on. Right now it feels like i'm driving a Eurovan. Have already removed the luggage screen to minimise the majority of creaks and rattles, but it seems that these 2 panels are also big culprits.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. I have absolutely no idea where to start, so please do not underestimate the level of simple instructions required to get a noob to understand! :bash:
