Parking sensors??

I bought my car on Friday, but had to wait until today to tax it. I went out, as you do, and enjoyed every minute of it!

The problem I'm having though, is with the parking sensors. They were fine earlier, but upon reversing off the drive (no obstacles for the sensors to even pickup) they started beeping and the dash button started flashing!!


Are they goosed? Or is this normal behaviour?

Depends...

They're two different tones (front and back) plus a third higher pitched for when they are goosed. Odd for them to go off with nothing around. Typically, try washing it (though I doubt it's that dirty if you haven't driven it yet), or failing that a screwdriver head round the inner ring.

If that doesn't work it's VCDS to work out which has failed and an ebay replacement....

Cheers for the reply! I'll try and test them individually and see if I can determine which one has gone.

So it's different tones front and rear? Didn't know that! Hopefully it's not too expensive to sort out!!

I had a similar issue with mine, it turned out that one of my sensors was out of line, parked to close to a hedge. Cleaned and re-aligned and all good. Also they can pick up or sense the number plate (specifically the front) if it juts out from the housing

I've had about 5 sensors go in 2 1/2 years over ownership, if you do a search you will find my posts.

Best place to buy replacements is ebay at around £16 a pop. Dealer will charge around £180

Hi everyone, this has partly answered my queries about them as I picked up my B7 on Satruday. It was one of my 'Is this normal' questions!

As ive only had the car a couple of days I'm going to see if my warranty covers them before I go anywhere!

But I'm glad it's just not me that's had problems!! And that it seems to but a common issue!!

Its weird - had a B6 S$ for 5 years and not one problem the parking sensors, but as previously mentioned in 2 1/2 years of owning the RS4 had at least 5 go.

Warranty did pick them all up, so as long as your warranty includes electical faults you should be covered
