It's used to be 98 and is now 99.
I suspect it might be due to the requirement to have a percentage of bio ethanol in them now.

To be honest, for our cars Ron is pointless - you need the Mon value as this is the resistance to knocking under high load and rpm

Mmm I didn't know that mate, so is V Power much better than Tescos and Saibsburys then?

The thing is that running 95 on the RS4 actually INCREASES the cost - how come? 95, in the UK at least, has a higher sulphur content which causes more frequent pre-cat cleaning to take place - and since that's done by increasing the amount of fuel injected and adjusting the timing to make the exhaust gasses hotter it reduces the mpg by around 10% compared to using 98.

So unless the price premium for 98 is over 10%, which at today's prices means 13p per litre more, then running 98 actually costs less than running 95.

That means any tight arse using 95 is actually increasing their costs...

Hard to say - It used to be that vpower had higher mon rating (only 1 or 2 points) but with the new formula not so sure.
Bloody hard to get specs on fuel!

I've never run any of my cars on anything other than super / vpower / ultimate for as long as I can remember - the extra cost is fairly insignificant compared to depreciation, running costs etc etc over a year

recently i've been running the rs4 on Tesco Momentum as it was retarding the timing (when dynod at mrc) when running on what should have been a tank of V-Power

admittedly i've not been back up to MRC to see if it made a difference lol but the fact that its a. pay at pump at my local tesco (less faffing) and b. about a 10 mile round trip to fill up means "popping out to get some fuel" is much more fun than going to the one a mile away from me :)

I found this too - the simple fuel switch improved the figures...

Also, you can meet Ant and Dec at the Fish counter. Everyone's a winner.
