Squeaky brakes
Re: Squeaky brakes
This story sounds exactly like my S4 saga. Ended up sacking it off and getting a brand new S5. Audi stumped up an 8k deposit for me to keep my payments the same and took the S4 back which needed tyres, service and tax.
They probably absorbed some negative equity as well.
Must admit I've been looking at C63s again recently. Drove the A45 the other day thought it was very average for the money.

I was same about a45. Was fun, but it would've been the wife's car and he suspension would've been too hard for her and the dash mounted ipad thing looked more ssssssssanyong than MercNickyboy wrote:This story sounds exactly like my S4 saga. I've asked audi uk to escalate my issue, so I'll hopefully get a call Monday, but I'm not holding my breath
Did audi match the depreciation on the car when you gave it back, how old was it ?

Re: Squeaky brakes
Just wondering how many people are suffering with this problem??
My new car is sitting in the delivery compound at the dealers and I'm due to take delivery on the 31st March. Loved the 2 B7 Avants that I've owned previously. If the brakes on my new car are likely to squeal like those on Graeme4130's YouTube clip then I'm likely to fall out of love with the car pretty quickly, no matter how awesome it is in every other respect.
I'm purchasing the B8 from a dealer 2 1/2 hours away, so am hardly likely to return to them for warranty work and my 2 local dealers are useless for anything other than servicing.
If most cars are suffering with this issue and Audi are yet to provide a suitable fix
, then I'm seriously considering loosing my deposit and walking. £1k is very little to loose in comparison to the £5-10k that I'll loose 6 months down the line when I'm well and truly cheesed off with returning to the dealers.

Your creating a scenario before its even happened, the b8 forum is hardly awash with brake problemsIf most cars are suffering with this issue and Audi are yet to provide a suitable fix , then I'm seriously considering loosing my deposit and walking. £1k is very little to loose in comparison to the £5-10k that I'll loose 6 months down the line when I'm well and truly cheesed off with returning to the dealers.

Re: Squeaky brakes
Just massive heat and constant vibration. Initially, they were a little softer in the pedal, but then as they bedded in they started getting a bit grabby and escalated to the point that the whole car shook under brakingSilas wrote:What's the symptoms of your dodgy breaks!!I think it's just mine, hence why audi uk don't have a fix
I cam home down the motorway recently and when I pulled into my drive, I could feel the heat from the brakes on my legs as I walked past my car. Audi have admitted there's a problem, but as they don't know what or how, they're not fixing it

Sounds like they are binding, seems strange to get so much heat after driving down the motorway

Re: Squeaky brakes
That was what I suspected, especially as I live only about 5 turns from the motorway, so no real chance to build up heatSilas wrote:Sounds like they are binding, seems strange to get so much heat after driving down the motorway
Hopefully it'll get sorted and my faith in Audi will be restored

Re: Squeaky brakes
Well the S4 must have been 6 months old and I only put a £2,500 deposit down so I suspect there was negative equity which was written off.Graeme4130 wrote:I was same about a45. They initially asked for a £1,750 deposit for the S5 which I was about to pay. Mrs put her foot down and said no because she felt a 40k+ car should be better as should a marque like Audi. Audi came back to me and said Audi UK/Maidstone Audi have stumped up the rest. Resulting in me not paying a penny extra for a brand new S5.

Re: Squeaky brakes
It's worth noting that although Bristol and Bath were dealing with the issues for me it was my supplying dealer (Maidstone) and Audi UK which sorted it. Therefore I would keep Bath in the loop incase your situation ends up like mine.

Re: Squeaky brakes
The B8 forum is hardly the busiest forum on here, and there are certainly 2 members with on going issues. Users of the RS3 and TTRS forum have also reported similar problems previously, although I think that their issue has since been fixed by a recall / TSB.Silas wrote:Your creating a scenario before its even happened, the b8 forum is hardly awash with brake problemsIf most cars are suffering with this issue and Audi are yet to provide a suitable fix , then I'm seriously considering loosing my deposit and walking. £1k is very little to loose in comparison to the £5-10k that I'll loose 6 months down the line when I'm well and truly cheesed off with returning to the dealers.
Graeme seems to be having real issues with multiple visits to the dealer which is really unfortunate. This would be the type of scenario that would really annoy me as my two local dealers are not great.

Re: Squeaky brakes
I don't think you should have to be doing any of this, I never had any problems with my b7 discs, and wouldn't expect any from the b8, I would chuck it straight back to the dealer to sort the issue out, maybe try for some sort of deal for some ramics? It's worth a tryBut it's not a (potentially) not a problem. Decent brakes are way way over spec'd for normal road use. If you want brakes that reliably stop a car under moderate track/fast road speeds then you have to accept there is a compromise. What are you hoping the dealer to fix?
As for reducing pad/disc life it doesn't work that way. When brakes are cold the pads lysis ally grind the metal surface of the disc. This is quite brutal esp when you have 'sporty' ceramic biased pads. Once up to temperature the braking comes from the pad material transferring to the disc which is less. I've got 28k on my current pads and discs and still reasonable amount left... I am always firm on the brakes and don't have any squealing.
