As the suspension is better off being replaced, this isn't really a selling point. Is it?

My bet is there are some niggles to work through but he's lost the appetite to carry on. That said, 586PS on a stage 2 set up with a stage 3 tune is great and it's freshly done. There's just very little else to go on other than H&R coilovers are poo.
So avoid or pay MRC to look over the car? What niggles could you envisage?
Niggles? Could be ANYTHING. You've gotta envisage that upon having the car off-road for 6 months getting all that work done and going from 450HP to 580HP, I think he'd have given it a spanking in the last 10 days... wouldn't you? Yes, get MRC to look it over. It could be the best £81.60 you've spent.

So this (http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=108416) is overpriced too?
No. The RS6+ is a Unicorn.

If you're looking to buy an RS6 that will remain guaranteed fault-free for 3-6 months, then the C5 RS6 probably isn't for you. The C5 RS6 is £1200 timebomb that has no watch face, you just hear the ticking... if you can handle that, it's a flawed beauty.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Fault free driving isn't high on my list of priorities, I just don't want to buy a pup.

What I have trouble getting my head around is how much can go wrong and seems to go wrong with most 50K cars (Audi & BMW just to mention a few). But that is another long discussion for another time as I'm sure it's been talked about loads before :biggrin3:

Feedback for the seller is %100 though

for comparison , on PH
127k , saloon, 1 previous owner , claimed 571bhp , £8k

there's some nice cars for under £15 if that's what your looking for . What are you actually after ?, all out performance or a good standard car ?, what kind of budget are we talking.
have you had a 6 before ?
This will be my first 6, actually my first Audi. It was between this and an E46 M3, the M3 lost due to less power and the rear chassis coming away from the car :biggrin3:

My previous car was a modified MKiv Supra, unfortunately they are getting on a bit and they are now affordable to Chavs - well the dogs are. I wanted a change, something that would hold it's value a better and have more modern comforts.

Price wise I'm unsure, it just needs to be mint, have a decent service history and ideally low miles. Modded is fine or stock just as long as it's been properly looked after as I am extremely OCD with my cars.

My main problem is my location, I'm in the Channel Islands and there is nothing locally, so it has to be a UK car then I have to factor in traveling costs (flights over and boat back) the registering the car here. This alone will add about 2K to the buying cost so this is why I need to be sure before buying.
Just curious, the cars you are moving from are more akin the '4 rather than '6.

I assume you have driven a '6?

I thought I wanted a '6 until I drove a '4.

On what basis has your decision been made? 6's and your previous rides are fairly different IMHO

Just written this and realised you had a supra, is that similar? Dunno but I've written it now so will post anyway :)

The practical reasons behind my decision on a 6 are that my mother-in-law is wheel chair bound (MS) so the boot space would be a big help for transporting the wheel chair, my missus has Rheumatoid Arthritis and started having difficulty getting in and out the Supra.

For me it's wanting the power, my Supra was 825 rwhp 700 ftlb. If I am being honest she was more than a little tail happy and at times a real nightmare to drive but a lot of fun

Cool, the 6 is also a mean machine, but the c5 problems put me off tbh, running costs thru the roof!

A RS4 Avant will be a more focused, fun drive when on backroads/pushing on but if you want power, sheer straight line acceleration and overall comfort, a modded RS6 is a hard proposition to pass up.

The 4 has a deceptively large boot in saloon or avant guise, is a very nice creature to drive but without a Supercharger upgrade, a modded 6 batters it and never fails to put an evil grin on your face. Trust me, I have both. The bucket seats are beyond a flaming pain in the arse though to live with for anyone above 4ft tall, you would have to have the comfort seat option for any sort of all round practicality imo.

Saying all of that though, as much as I miss having silly amounts of power and the slushbox, I don't think I have driven the 6 once since madam stole her from me, the noise from the exhaust on the 4 and just how well she responds to being utterly spanked has me ignoring most of the shortcomings, for now.......

Yeah. The B7 is good but the size offends me.

Sorry, just to add, I have the go-ahead from madam for the Supercharger upgrade either for my birthday or Chrimbo :D. Best. Bird. Ever. I keep seeing B7 Avants and thinking I was silly to get the loon but we didn't want to have 2 Avants, wanted to be different.

Mathmos

I love my 6 with unbridled passion.......there is nothing that can take 4 kids all the luggage and batter almost everything even with a roof box on and still mange to look cool. Yes the running costs are eye watering at times but if you want miles for smiles then she is up with the best.

Would I swop her.....................not a chance as hell will freeze over first :bigwave:
