exactly the same here! never driven one, told myself I wouldn't buy the 1st one I viewed, and then I go and test drive one and buy it a week later - I have the rare racing cloth interior which i haven't seen on any other advert since so happy i made the right choice as I really like it. the only thing was it had 69k on the clock and i wanted one with less than 50k ideally but it had all the relevant history. i just didn't plan on keeping it as long as I have, just fell in love with it reallyTile Diver wrote:Bought the first one I viewed and that was also the first time I drove one!!!

I looked at 3, 1 shitter, 1 ok, 1 I thought "that's mine" as he pulled up to the station after I planned to go see it.
I was prepared to go nationwide [even Ireland] for the right car. The one I bought was from a member on here.

Re: How many cars did you view before finding 'The one'
Bought the first one i viewed...! I had 4 lined up to view that day too, all around 4 hours drive from my home. One was sold the day before i travelled, one dealer stopped answering my calls and the last one was a cheap one which i wasn't too fussed on from the start but thought it'd be worth a look when i was close.
My desired spec was;
Sprint Blue
Buckets
FBSW
Carbon trim
Sub 60k
The one i got had everything but the FBSW although it did have a 6month warranty and was in good condition. Didn't need any money spent on it really; other than little bits to 'make it mine' so it was as good as i was going to get for my budget as far as i was concerned. Plus i figured if i went trawling around the country i'd spend £000's on fuel and time with no guarantee of finding a better one, so went for it.
I did view an E92 M3 and S5 before that though but didn't really feel them. The RS4 felt like a totally different beast when i test drove it, that decided that my 20 odd grand would go on an RS4.

Re: How many cars did you view before finding 'The one'
I test drove these before finding my RS6 -
A. AMG S65 - horrible to drive with a poor cockpit layout and I think it had engine issues as there's no way it had 600hp-700ft/lbs.
B. Audi C6 S6 - Loved the look, noise & ride quality but just lacked enough "Holy Poop" moments on acceleration for me.
C. E60 M5 - Loved the look, power & noise but a harsh ride and truly terrible gearbox (may have had issues) put me off.
D. Jaguar XFSV8 - Best interior and noise (supercharged V8) but very harsh ride and a rude salesman put me off again.
I was most surprised by how poor the S65 seemed for a £100K+ car. The stalk layout for the cruise control looked and felt appalling, the automatic bolsters were far too hard, the noise was lacking and the the power felt around down at around the 400hp mark as it didn't even push me back in my seat at any point compared to my previous 400hp+ cars!
However, with seconds of "booting it" in the RS6 I knew that was the one for me.

Re: How many cars did you view before finding 'The one'
Basically bought mine blind, had followed the progress the previous owner had with the car and approached him about buying it after I saw he was selling the wheels that were on it.
It was the spec I wanted in the colour I wanted, and only had 25k on the clock.
I was fecked if I didn't buy it, considering me and a mate flew down to heathrow for it and had already had sonny from here drop 2 bucket seats off at the sellers house for me

Re: How many cars did you view before finding 'The one'
down here in cornwall there rarely up for sale locally. i did find 2 locally though and viewed and drove both. both cars same colour, age, bodyplan the only difference was mileage and 1 had piano trim the other carbon and a phone cradle. the first 1 i drove the owner accompanied me and the second one the guy is mates with my boss and said off you go. that drive on my own just captured me and within a few miles i thought i never want to give these keys back. still took a few days to decide but thats the one i got and still have. still makes me feel like that now after every drive!!
