Changed my Pzero's with about 3.5mm left all round.... just scary, slippy and twitchy in the wet, "failed the roundabout test"

Fitted Goodyear F1 asymmetrics 2's.......total confidence, after 200 miles took it to my test roundabout and floored it in the rain, passed with flying colours, have also done several high speed runs through some motorway surface water, again very impressed

Yes the PZeros are probably the worst tyre on the RS4 had them on my B5 shocking very dangerous as they pulled the steering wheel quite violently if you when any where near the white lines
Similar on the B7 but not quite as violent terrible in the wet
And currently on the B8 terrible in the wet no tramlineing issue but a shocking tyre
Had Michelin Super Sports on my B7 could nit fault them superb wet and dry grip and hard wearing
The will be going on my car after winter as I will be ditching the PZeros thought I could suffer them til done but I can't
How Pirelli are in business when these flagship tyres are so bad is beyond me

Pirellis i believe.
Also had them on the B7 and they were a death wish tyre, was hoping they were going to have better reviews on the B8 but seems not!
Had the Vreds on the B7 and thought they were ten times better, no issues what so ever.

Also, watching Top Gear with the Maclaren P1, did JC say that the P1 had Pirelli"s on and that was why he could push the car so hard in the rain?

I have PZeros on my B7 S4, they were on there when I bought it...

I don't drive it particularly hard, 99% of the time - what would people advise as an alternative...when I had an FTO this was a constant discussion on the oweners forum.

I have only covered 600 miles so far and the Pirellis seem fine to me. If you look on Audi's website for tyres, they don't even have Pirelli as an option.....http://www.audi.co.uk/audi/owners-area/ ... earch.html

I quite liked the Toyos which were OEM on the TTRS, then had Pzeros. I tried Vred Sessantas and thought they were worse than Pzeros.

Surely driving style must be a factor for tyres?

+1

I was lucky enough to work for several years with some excellent Ride & Handling engineers, the knowledge they passed on has certainly made me able to better feel and understand how a car behaves.

I agree but different cars will perform differently on the same tyres. More or less power, front weight etc.

My Wife's S3 has Pzeros and turns in quicker and maintains cornering grip way better the my TT did. I assume it's lighter the the 5-pot TT??

I've always found Pzeros to be good enough for me.....B7 RS4, B8 S4 and the TT.

Maybe I am just not as good a driver as you ;)

Agreed. The older Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 were superb tyres, but only up to a certain weight, not really suited to S4/RS4. They were okay on a mates old S2 - wailed like a bitch though when attacking roundabouts on warm dry days!

I'm good!!! but I don't like to brag :bigblink:
my car squirms around when booted fairly hard, you can also feel the tyre's struggling for grip entering a roundabout at speed, they just give you no confidence, I would say they border on dangerous for a performance car such as the RS. The conti's on my wife's s3 give me more grip and that's saying something

I didn't think this conversation / thread about tyre quality or drive would end up in a dig on how good at driving each member was .....especially without provocation first
