I did remember someone making a post, as I say, but when I searched I couldn't find it.

I'm not convinced the search engine on here is all that special as I couldn't even locate posts I'd made myself unless searching posts made by user.

Right, I just rang listers and spoke to a chap called Mark Taplin. The warranty you have is not an Audi warranty but a listers group warranty. He says it covers most of what the Audi one does, but may not cover some of the smaller items. Since I'm mainly concerned with things like turbo or engine failure it sounds like a good deal. Note however that when the car reaches 5 years old it becomes a named parts policy and the limit of any claim drops to £2k.

Never mind, its only money, just have to put in a few more hours overtime...

Doh !
It is a Listers policy, but it is identical to the Audi warranty except that it doesn't provide a courtesy car in the event that your's is off the road.
It is a total rebuild on the engine with most moving parts needing replacing. Before sitting in my garage for the last ten years, it spent some time in a breakers yard. Before that, it saw service, along with the other engine that I bought as a pair in an off-shore powerboat. Before that, it was obviously in a high performance Ford of one kind or another. The choice is actually quite limited as the 427 "Side-Oilers" are extremely rare and were installed in very few cars, mostly NASCAR racers and the likes of GT40's.

Very nice paul.
I thought from our previous discussions though that you had sold your previous cobra.

ahh, the light finally flickers into life.
Your rebuilding an engine you already have ready for the arrival of the rolling shell, right ?
Very nice. Being the sad git that I am I'd love to see some pictures.
If the engine is so special I bet its going to cost a foertune to do. And where would you get the parts ?
Do places like real-steel sell race rods etc ?

I'm getting closer to starting my GT40 project (replica) but need to sell some toys to make the room first though.

Sorry for highjacking this thread lads.
