Top job at mk upholestry

Post by Ginors4 » Tue Jan 21, 2014 10:08 pm

I had the drivers lower and upper seat bolsters re leathered today from a very highly recommended company and the results were terrific. See below a couple of quick snaps taken from iPhone today but truly looks superb in the flesh. The company are based just outside of Maidstone Kent and turned the job around in one day.

Mark (the owner) has twenty plus years experience mainly dealing in old Rolls Royce's , Bentleys, VW camper vans, even has done some old Ferrari models inc Dino, some of his work was on show in his unit which has over 350 man hours work with a full interior rebuild.

I'm not sure if it's just the photo, but does it match the leather on the rest of the seat ?

It looks slightly brown in the first photo, just the light playing tricks I reckon

Ha ha. Sorry first photos taken this morning in good light and second set taken in garage at night also dam cameras never catch the the true picture.

The interior leather has been treated at the weekend and appears to be a bit more glossy than the new bolsters. It is identical. It will just require the same treatment this weekend.

I had some leather work done on an old TVR, and the upholster told me matching worn leather is the hardest part of the trade.
They sometimes use chemicals to 'wear' the new patch so it matches the existing bits, but obviously isn't worn or creased
It's a black art apparently

Clean your old leather with CIF cream and dilute Fairy Liquid in bucket, let it dry, then wax with quality leather feed. Bingo the leather interior looks and smells like new.

Bolsters now treated with leather care. Looks identical. Sometimes the camera can pick up shadows and with the flash on can make the leather colour between different depths and angles.

Couple of updated pics
