professional full respray. ballpark price for a good job?
Re: professional full respray. ballpark price for a good job
Just seen this thread (and now trying to exorcise all the mental images!).
Back to the original points... gotta say that that same car caught my attention too (guess I must have a thing about blue saloons!) and also had similar thoughts about how to justify yet another vehicle.
Thing is, I can't really "justify" the first '6, let alone another... but then when did that ever stop anyone...!?
Also, occasionally think about a change (sacrilege I know) as it's been over 4 years now and I've ended up cherishing this when it was supposed to be a daily runner...
Anyhow...
The main point I was going to make is that my paint guy is only up the road from you, just in case you wanted to consider other options also.
In fact, my wife's car is going in tomorrow, so you're welcome to pop over to see a fresh example of his work.

Re: professional full respray. ballpark price for a good job
I've heard good about Quattro Coachworks. They had a pair of RS2's recently resprayed at ADI, made mine look haggard in comparison. Lovely work with alot of attention put into replacing all window rubbers, under arch bolts, bumpers flush etc - all the usual problem areas addressed, about 5k for a full glass-out job aparrently. RS2 is a smaller car though.
RS2 - Ragussa Green. OEM 'Big Brake' upgrade, Neuspeed RARB, Wagner Intercooler, Wagner Exhaust Manifold, Hybrid Turbo, 3" Scorpion turbo-back exhaust

Absolutely reamed my mate, painted a show winning car after giving a 2.2k in the metal quote. When the car was ready sent him an amended bill for 7.8k!
Yes...
7.8k!!!
So it's going to be better than perfect right?
Wrong!
Colour change from white to black for 8k you'd expect to be acid dipped and complete as from factory colour right?
Wrong.
But their's labour costs for stripping and rebuilding right?
Wrong! Car got supplied stripped, windows out, engine and running gear off...
but the paint was at least immaculate right???
Wrong!!! Inside of car remained white, inner arches and under floor remained white, sills weren't fully caught either, engine bay you could still see white looking in from the top
but at least the paint was flawless for 7.8k right????
Wrong!!! Bonnet needed reworked, paintwork started falling off in sheets
wow...at least he would have got it sorted right??
Wrong!!!
He'd at least have got his money back right??????
Wrong!!! Payment was negotiated down to just over 7 and had to be paid to get the car released and now fixing it at his own cost after the offer for Howellto get Iit repaired anywhere else at his cost petered out to nothing
well at least it was just a one off right??????
Wrong!!!!! After every occasion with the same circumstances the legal quiet threats were issued, police are called when it goes viral and lawsuits are started!!!
My mate nearly lost his business due to this and the financial outlay and it's not even an isolated occurrence. Evidence is there to be found on forums
Interesting post this, pretty slanderous TBH, considering this isn't even your car!!!!
I have had plenty of work done by Greg with no complaints.
I know what car you are talking about, I saw the car when it was at Greg's been prepped. Was this not 2 years ago????
Considering the car was supposed to be a straight colour change it was not show winning!!!
You know the inns and outs of what this car was like and how bad it was previously done, I saw the Bay, filler everywhere, doors full of filler, poor welding on the handles, I've even got some pictures.
Don't understand why you dragged this up? Considering your mate knew how much it was going to be! Car was ruined!
Greg Does do good work and he stands by his work.

So does this mean that my recommendation for Greg can stand?

Well, I feel the saying "the sh1t is about to hit the fan" is too old, so I though a new saying was in order, "the sh1t is a about to get dragged through the Japanese techno-toilet." Kinda got a nice ring to it, huh?

Greg Does do good work and he stands by his work.
A -I 'dragged' it up sharing an experience
B - if anything it would be libel but it needs to be a lie to be libel
C - getting a quote for a 2.2k paint job that gets amended to 2.5k for extra work required in the engine bay for it too be further amended to 7.8k after the work is 'finished' is hardly my mate knowing what the cost was going to be. He got a quote while Greg viewed the car, in the metal, for it to almost quadruple!! Is that really common practice? Acceptable practice?
Greg stands by his work? Really?

WTF !!
Im just off to the garage to wirebrush my eyeballs to get some of these images out !!
Theres always two sides to everything, but for a reputable company to go from 2k to 7k without notice or justification sounds a bit weird. But I have had it myself in the flesh so have seen both angles, so who knows (only Greg and Daz's mate I suspect), I doubt the full truth is on here or even discussed in public, it will always have an "angle" attached by the teller.
