This is what EVO think is the best RS, can't wait to try /buy one in fact if it would of been available to order in July i would of jumped in with two feet and not bought an RS3. http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarr ... specs.html
That's just wrong

New RS 3 will be out next year and will be the same but have 360PS and won't look as stupid

Pretty sure this is the only RS Audi to ever get the full five star rating from Evo...!?

We all have different reasons as to which is the best, it's the reason we're all driving different ones, what I do know is, when the B7 RS 4 came out there was so much want, even to this day I would love to own one.

Autocar - the finest RS model

Graeme4130 wrote:This is turning into B7 owners slagging off B8's, and B8 owners defending their B8 choice.
The main difference in tact of argument is most B8 owners have owned B7's, but I'm not sure any b7 owners have owned B8's ?

It's a silly argument as everyone is entitled to like their own car's and this whole thread was started as a dig at B8's in the B8 forum by a B7 owner, so you just tootle off back to your B7 with your vac leeks, carbon build up and a string of excuses for when it makes circa 370bhp on a rolling road :bigblink:
Amen....I've had a couple of cars since the B7 RS4 and it still rates as one of my favourites but things do move on..........some people don't.

Matter of opinions, had a b7 (far from standard) for 3 years loved it. Drove a b8 and didn't feel the urge to buy one. I'm not a fan of estates though possibly had my back up before I even drove the b8. Rs5 was the same, nearly bought one for its looks but before is even bought it I was looking at supercharger kits. Vicious circle is modding so gave it a miss and ended up with a gtr that I modded anyway lol ! R8 or rs6 if I was to go audi again

This is what Autocar said about the B7 RS4, having reviewed all of the RS models including the present ones

"Audi regained form in 2006, when it launched the new RS4 after a long hiatus. Available in saloon, Avant and cabriolet guise, the B7 RS4 variant is still regarded as Quattro GmbH’s ‘sweetspot’ and finest RS model. Drive was supplied by an all-new, high-revving 4.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8, pumping out 414bhp at a heady 7800rpm and mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Zero to 62mph was taken care of in 4.8sec while (still conforming to the voluntary agreement) being limited to 155mph. De-restricted B7 RS4s were capable of cracking 180mph. After just 18 months Audi brought a premature halt to the B7 production line.

To this day, the beautifully proportioned B7 RS4 is fondly remembered at Autocar for its fluid ride, engaging handling and superb powertrain. "

So they might think the B8 is good but, seven years on, they still think the B7 is better. Not having a dig, just very chuffed and wanted to share a review from the experts rather than just read the opinions from owners of either model.

You've come into the B8 forum, which is largely populated with B8 owners, and posted up how your B7 is better than their B8's according to autocar and you're now claiming 'not having a dig' ?
I suppose the purpose of this thread was just to let us know, no ?
Most of us used to own B7's, so we're all quite familiar with them thanks

It's true the B7 RS4 is the better car.

I know a few of the development team at Ingolstadt and when they are spending millions of pounds developing a new niche RS model their ethos is "make a fantastic car, just not a good as the B7 RS4". Hence they could have made the steering on the B8 sublime but chose not to. Now that's real commitment for you :bigblink:

Autocar - the finest RS model

Post by doodlebug » Wed Dec 18, 2013 9:09 am

Pumping out 414bhp? Isn't it more a case that some of the 414bhp were pumped out?

This obsession of glorifying the B7 is boring. It was a great car. But times have moved on, you can't order one now so that it was great is irrelevant.

Frankly, I couldn't give a <beep>.

Lol. Seems like some B7 owners are going the same way as B5 owners did after the B7 came out.
