Help!

Post by Sijones » Sat Dec 14, 2013 10:49 pm

I was driving my B6 S4 today when I suddenly lost power, it feels like a misfire (as it's still has reasonable power) and I have a flashing amber engine management light.I hope it's just a failed coil pack- question is if I take it to a local garage will the diagnostics make it apparent that a certain cylinder is misfiring or is it a long drawn out process of swapping out coil packs then driving it again? Also will it be obvious from the diagnostics if it's something more serious? Any advice on what to look out for would be really helpful.. Thanks..

Very likely - coil pack; 10minute diagnosis on the B6. Same thing happen to mine in 2004 and on an S3 in 2001.

Sounds like coil pack. Might even be under the recall as well. I changed all of mine when one failed, forgot to check if they were covered by the recall :bash:
previous- Pug 205 gti, 306 gti, 309 gti Goodwood.
Audi S3, S4 V8 avant.
Porsche Macan Turbo.
Gone but NEVER forgotten - C5 RS6 Misano red avant.

Now - Empty garage

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there!

Is it best to speak to Audi uk or local dealer about swapping the coils under recall? Only my local Audi dealer isn't great.. They damaged my old car twice whilst it was in their 'care'..!
