Why would you do a 6th gear run? Don't people read tyre speed ratings? <sigh>

Maybe after building a 550bhp 24vT with a built 6 speed gearset he just wanted to see its theoretical top speed? Or maybe it was just for the lolz because hes a crazy irish bastard?

I woul question anybody who tries to build a 550bhp car and couldn't do basic mathematics... The theoretical top speed isn't that hard to work out... and is completely pointless as there is no way in the world EVER it would top out at 238 mph before hitting an aerodynamic wall or simply taking off Mercedes Le man style.

Hand in your man card. It was a bit of banter at a rolling road day

Am quite happy with my collection of man cards. I don't have to do bloody stupid pointless stunts to maintain membership.

Is that Golf thing really front wheel drive, or has a Haldex fuse been pulled?

Front wheel drive and 550 BHP, that would seriously frustrate me.

Still fwd yes. Enough traction to comprehensively beat his friends tuned c5 rs though. Runs relatively low boost while he finishes off the 4wd conversion. Are we going to revert to the myth that more than 200bhp is pointless in a fwd? Its obviously not anyone on heres usual fare but its a well built and very VERY capable car.

My question is what on earth does it handle like? Will be awesome if it is eventually haldex'd.

I had a charged MK3 VR6 running circa 300hp, damn thing became nigh on undrivable in the wet, just about stayed with RS4's in a straight line though, come to a bend, well you may as well go home! This was when they were new, circa 6 years ago.

Have to say I was running similar stretch with no issues, but wasn't knocking on 500hp!! Lol
I do miss that car though, was a hoot to drive.

One of the trickiest cars I ever drove was an ex bttc racer - fwd, 300+bhp, slick tyres and virtually no weight. I hate to think what 550 through the front wheels would do should you go near the steering wheel

Like that a lot on the RH's. Ive got a few friends with vr turbos most of which run 380 or over and theyre all pretty confident with throwing their cars about

So I'm guessing a very careful straight line from a rolling start.

Also most tuned c5's I know are running considerably more than 550bhp so it must have been a tame tune.
