See, that isn't right.

Say the car is £50k, the GFV is £20k, the GFV is fixed.

That leaves £30k to pay.

You can put down £10k and finance £20k, or you can put down £20k and finance £10k, eithier way, you're going to have paid the £30k at the end of the agreement (interest aside for a moment). Yes, you've put down a larger deposit, but that means you've also made lower monthly payments because of it.

So, to clarify. At the end of a PCP, you will have the same equity in the car no matter how big or small your deposit, as with a smaller deposit you would have paid the same amount with a larger monthly payment and vice versa.

Hope that has made it clearer for you, some dealers are awful at explaining it.

this cant be right as you have only paid 30k for a 50k (forget the intrest for now) car so who pays the other 20k because you can either give it back to the dealer at the end of the pcp or buy it for 20k or buy a new car and you then have to find another deposit to buy again so are you not only renting the car if you are going to hand it back at the end

Just spoke to Tristan at Kings Lynn and he's been told that the current finance offer is being extended into Q1 of 2014 and that AUDI are planning a large scale push of RS and S products in 2014 too.

The other £20k you ignore until the end of the term (but do still pay interest on) you pay that if you want to own it at the end. Or, you hand it back, alternatively part exchange it for another one. PCPs are designed to leave you some equity so part exchanging it is the most desirable option, if you hand it back, you'll clear the finance but won't see any equity back. The amount of equity depends on the car, but it won't be anything like the initial deposit you put down.

I imagine, if you're only talking a few weeks, they'll be able to come up with something

Good line up of previous cars btw, I've had a few TVR's (most recently a Chimaera 4.0hc) and a golf GTI in the past too
Oddly, although I hardly used my last TVR, I'm missing it already and may need to pick up a project Cerbera at some point to stick to the side of the garage and tinker with on rainy days

Thanks. Good idea. I'd love to buy a Cerb but the biggest obstacle is convincing my wife... I'm sure my nippers would love it and they are small enough for a few years yet... Convincing her to buy a downton mini was much easier!
RS4 B8 on order...
S4 B8 Avant Manual (up for grabs)
Golf GTi Edition 30 (gone)
TVR Tuscan S (gone too)
TVR Tuscan (pleased it went!)
TVR Chimaera (gone)
TVR S2 (gone)
Mini Cooper S Works (Classic)

So went to look at a Suzuka today, cost price ZAR1 070 000 (GBPZAR 17.20) dealer will do it for 899 000! Basically 10% off! Thought that was a decent discount

with regard to reaping the discount fully, if you do intend to buy outright and keep, you can, there is no penalty in paying off the pcp in full or early . When I signed for mine, they ran through it..
So, why wouldn't anyone take the finance offer!! - its 2K free!

Withdrew from the finance agreement after 2 days with a £30 penalty, then you're given 30 days to pay it off..

Yes, you have 14 days to withdraw and 30 to pay it off or find alternative funding, as long as VWFS are paid off.

Withdrawing from the finance agreement rather than 'paying it off' will have bad consequences for the dealer though. I wouldn't want to be the business manager/sales manager there! I hope you didn't like them very much.
