Any owners thinking of selling and get......?
Any one pondering a change? If so what to?
I'm taken by some of the latest Bmw's styling wise I think there ahead of audi.......but Rwd.....grr
Not old enough for a merc and would have to live with ugly styling as well as Rwd.
New Rs6 seems the only decent recent RS but way ott for me at the moment.
Nearly 5 years in b7 ownership and I can't find anything I want to jump to!
B8 just hasn't got it for me at all and I don't snack spunking 5k upwards tuning one again to get some grunt out of it like my b7,it leaves me hanging onto the b7 and running a commuter or leaving the high performance car scene for a while and running a newer sensible semi sporty everyday motor, running the RS daily isn't an option for me nor would I want to.
Suggestions please......

Re: Any owners thinking of selling and get......?
Thinking the same Lengster - I was looking at the B8 RS4 at the weekend and it's a beautiful place to be (£53k) but I'd near to swap the zorst out or get the Sports option. I'd go RS6 but the bills would be mental so I'm stuck. Holding onto the RS4 but maybe getting an Allroad for those euro-trips to the mountains.
Try a used Gallardo maybe, they're coming down or a C4S?

I need to fit my little uns un really otherwise it would hardly get used,I think I'd plumb for an R8 if I went down the 2 seater route. The new A6 allroad looks great for I big sensible daily driver,I'd almost say it looks aswell as the Rs6 if not better.
Re: Any owners thinking of selling and get......?
The new 335d is 4wd to handle the torque and I'm sorry to say it but it rides soooo much better that the new rs6 I drove the other week, I'm waiting for my local dealer to get a 335 in so I can go for a spin.

3 Series and RS6 not exactly a comparison is it?njm rs6 wrote:The new 335d is 4wd to handle the torque and I'm sorry to say it but it rides soooo much better that the new rs6 I drove the other week, I'm waiting for my local dealer to get a 335 in so I can go for a spin.
I would expect the RS6 to ride harder is a performance car. Anything diesel is merely taxi or pimped taxi!
Re: Any owners thinking of selling and get......?
I was only comparing the 2 because the op was talking about the rs6, 5 years ago I would have agreed but the new dervs are really refined and in the real world of 30-80mph driving they are quick cars and if driven sensibly can achieve 40-50mpg which would be handy on those mountain trips the op was talking about
Re: Any owners thinking of selling and get......?
Mmm, I'll saw my own cock off before I drive a weasel. Next door have a 5 series GT, it sounds and looks <beep>, inside and out.
Re: Any owners thinking of selling and get......?
I have to agree about the new 'gt' thing that they're doing they look like a balloon animal gone wrong but I thought the strait 6 derv sounds ok, quite throaty, granted nothing close to a good v8

Re: Any owners thinking of selling and get......?
I don't know why, but despite being completely happy with the RS I'm always looking at what I could/would replace it with. Obvious answer is GTR, but they're sounding a bit expensive now that gearboxes are going, and they're not meant to be all that great to drive (despite ferocious performance). I'm the same as you wanting to stay away from rwd, so despite C63s not in the mid-low £20k I'm just not that keen, and the M3 has always been the RS's not-quite-as-nice-to-own rival so wouldn't go that way either.
Sticking with 'obvious' choices, 4wd and power points to a 911 Turbo. The 996 is just old now, so it'd be a 997, but they're holding their value around £40k despite the 991 coming out. If you were looking at B8 RS4s then maybe not such an issue, but I want to be more around the £30k mark so 911 is out. Could go for a C4S, but they're not as special a car as the RS and don't have the performance of the turbo. Porsche is out.
Audi seems to be the only real place to look, but I'm not keen on what's on offer at the moment. Sure a V10 R8 or C7 RS6 would be amazing, but I can't afford anything like that level of car. B8 S4 with a pulley and map would give you the power to shame an RS4, but they're much softer cars and the V6 can't match the V8 aurally. S5 (either V8 or new V6T) I'm just not really a fan of. Not sure why, just never really liked them. Same goes for the RS5.
To be honest, over the past year, the only car I've seen that I'd consider (and it's more of a departure from type than a replacement) is a Range Rover Sport, the 5.0l Supercharged ones. 4wd, V8, nice place to sit... ticks all the boxes apart from handling. If I had to replace my RS4 and didn't replace it with another B7 RS4, I'd probably take a step back from performance cars and get the RRS for a while until I found something I'd really want to replace the RS. I guess you could go for the 2 car option and get a 4.2TDi Q7 and stick a turbo on an S2000 for the sunny days.

Re: Any owners thinking of selling and get......?
Doodlebug, your right I would consider a 335,no stupid road tax, decent economy, performance bang were you want it in everyday situations, the new 4 is pants if it could tow anything it would get get left for dead,I get sick of swapping cars according to we're I'm going or what I'm doing,a 335 could be a one does all pretty well kinda motor indeed,I'm off to ponder autotrader.
Re: Any owners thinking of selling and get......?
The new 4wd 335s might be tough to come by on autotrader because they were only relesed about a month ago
Re: Any owners thinking of selling and get......?
That's a very good point!

Re: Any owners thinking of selling and get......?
Try popping to your local dealership if your very lucky they might have one for you to look round but last time I checked (about 2 weeks ago) there were only 3 in country
Re: Any owners thinking of selling and get......?
Porsche Macan S or Turbo. Meant to be epic... I'm replacing my 5 series Touring with one.
S has 335bhp and only 45k ish. Turbo 60k ish 400bhp.
Can order now but first demo cars come in Feb next year.
