nice spec!. One thing I did is upgrade the folding mirrors to the convenience pack (100 quid more i think) but it gives you memory seats and the passenger mirror reverse option too which imo is worth it..
B8 RS4 - Daytona, Privacy Glass, Convenience pack, B&O, Pan roof, Parking advanced,Hill Hold, Heated seats.
Audi Q7 Sline plus - Daytona, Tech Pack hi, Storage pack/Towing equip.
Past - 911 C4S (997), S5, S3, TT 3.2, B7 RS4, B6 S4, Boxster, '83 911SC, Corrado G60

Thanks very much for that info. Agreed, sounds like a simple decision. I've emailed the dealer to see if it can be changed.

I'm also very tempted by Ceramics and haven't made a final call. I'd really be going for them for aesthetic reasons more than performance/need, although little to no brake dust is also appealing, just not for $4k... Have many others opted for them?

I add them late into the build and it delayed the car, depends on your rush for the car.

I notice you have an RS3 too, any pics?

Not always - depends what stage the order is at and something like a small option change shouldnt make any difference..

Thanks, Dave!

Your car looks quality and thanks for sharing so much useful information about buying and picking it up. I particularly liked the light on under the RS cover - very cool idea.

Have you decided on your "Individual" setup now?

I'm not in a massive rush but now I have an idea of when it's due it would be a bit disappointing to push it further out. I don't think I will end up going from them as the cost/function/mileage equation doesn't really add up. Although they do look awesome. Head and heart decision.....

I'll take a few shoots of my RS3 and post them up over the weekend.

There's three of us on here with/had RS3 's that have made the jump.... :biggrin3:

As Doodlebug states Engine and Transmission brilliant rest is okay but should have been better. :audibash: The 3 has an engine to die for it sounds fantastic when you push the pedal in to the carpet and can cross country pdq... However some of the niggles and faults with the car should have been sorted/addressed better by the powers that be. :boohoo:

I've regularly got 330 miles from a tank of Vpower and that's with some spirited cross country driving. The buckets made long distance driving a breeze, well for me any way but I know they are not everyone's cup of tea. She's a great cruiser and also very stealth. :jump:

I will miss her when she's gone, but the RS4. Well that's something else .... :notworthy:

I decided not to go for Ceramics as just couldn't justify the cost with all things considered. I'll come to one of those considerations shortly...

Regarding the RS3 - As with most RS cars, past, present and future, I think opinion will always be divided. This may be due to their introduction typically being towards the end of the product cycle and as such, a certain familiarity that may distract from what are usually VERY awesome cars.

After two and a half years and 17k miles in the RS3, I don't have a burning desire to get rid of it. So, I have decided to keep it. Mrs M will run it and I'll just have to get my head around it getting kerbed alloys...

It's fair to say I've never been totally in love with it, but it definitely has my respect. Just when you think it’s dynamically flawed and Audi missed a trick, the car can liven up the dullest of journeys. Point-to-Point, I think there are few cars that can live with it. The RS3 is very happy to trouble the likes of Carrera S’s and M3’s - In my book; this makes the RS3 more than noteworthy. As Wayne mentioned, it's pretty stealth-like too, which I like A LOT. Particularly when someone tries it on with what they think is a Cement Salesman in a 1.9TDi.

Yes, the steering lacks accuracy, the chassis feels nearly all of its age and the engine mounting/Haldex aren’t for the RS purist BUT the drivechain is phenomenal. Think, tuned-down Lamborghini Gallardo, plus a turbo, it really is that good. "Sport mode" on, low down revs under heavy load in 4th is its Meisterwerk. I also think it has great road presence, one of those, if you know – you know cars!!

So, I’ve traded a few nice-to-have options on the RS4 in order to keep the RS3. A sacrifice I’m happy with for now…

Spec is:
Phantom Black, Matt Aluminium Styling Package, Black Fine Nappa Buckets Seats (Heated), BOSE Sound System, Light & Rain Sensor Package, High Beam Assist, Adaptive Headlights, Aluminium Race Design Inlays, Interior Light Package, Cruise Control, 5Yr/90k Warranty.

Here’s a few quick phone pics I took:
