They see if you asked specifically for it, but it wasn't ran in a way that there was published results
In fact, I got the impression there were no results available at all and they'd somehow been lost as all I saw was a string of excuses and still, to this day, nothing's been published

Yes, it was a fun day. But I got the impression the organiser provided as little as possible but charged as much as they could feasibly get away with
On the day there must've been 150 cars and at £250each, there's no way it cost him £37,500 to rent the strip for a day and provide 2 safety crew
Has anyone else had this type of experience, kinda puts me off, now our own day must be an option??
I've emailed bruntingthorpe and we'll see what they come back with
It can't be hard to set up a corner exit speed trap as well as the final top speed
On top of that, you could always have a standing qtr on the launch side and maybe even some 0-60/0-100 splits

Leave it with me and I'll see what I can sort

That's it, just 3 have registered interest?

My thinking is; if we can get some decent numbers (let's say 15-30), then we'll look at booking our own VMAX, it's no real malice towards these organisers BUT it's more fitting that we, as a forum, organise this ourselves (if at all possible). If there's no VMAX trap then we can always round up some VBOXes and run a tally that way.
I am also assuming that £250ea is a rip off so that's further motivation.

/EDIT I'd be more receptive to a later date, April weather isn't fantastic and it'd be nicer to 'start' the RS246 2014 event calender with something special.

Thoughts welcomed.

I'll sort something, leave it with
Like yourself, I mean no disrespect to the organisers, but I felt for the cost of it, the event offered very little back, and although I enjoyed the day, I did leave wondering how much of his 911 turbo I'd just funded with my £250
I run events for a business, so I'll see what I can sort in terms of a 246 day for us by us

I'm not sure what I can offer, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a deviant life. Skills that make me a nightmare for people that would stop us organising a VMAX. If they let let our VMAX happen, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for them, I will not pursue them. But if they don't, I will look for them, I will find them, and I will perform very kinky acts upon their person.

I too have organised club events, and the first hurdle is numbers and commitment, so lets keep the list going/increasing :nodder:

I've been to all the VMAX's this year.
VMAX Deutchmax earlier this year wasnt that good as it was a selection of SRS cars so mostly B5's with vaccum leaks and C5's with slippin boxes.
VMAX Black was good but mostly taken over by the GTR boys esp the SVM GTR35 Gundam who smashed it @228.4mph
VMAX Quicksilver held last week was brilliant as a great selection of top end cars including F12, 458, Aventador, GTR, 720 Mirage GT, Ultimas, R8's etc and where the 9E 911 regained the crown @ 229mph

Its always good to pitch ur motor up against proper exotica and not just run of the mill fares which you come up against on a daily basis on the North Circ.

If I'm paying the full £250 Id rather go to a fully blown VMAX rather than a club specific one.
However if its a club organised event for a more reasonable price then im in

Let's wait and see what bruntingthoroe say
I've had dealing with them before, and as a big international test facility, they'll want a firm booking and payment up front
We'll also I suspect, need to sort our our own liability insurance (though I don't believe vmax do) and arrange/pay a safety crew/rent radio comms
Getting hold of timing kit isn't difficult
Anyway, I have access to most of this stuff through my events company, so leave it with me and we'll see if it's feasible to run an event for us/by us

I emailed the bruntingthorpe team yesterday and left and answer phone message with the person concerned there, so let's see what they come back with

In order to get some idea of what we need, have a think about what you all want to get out the day rather than just a top speed number

I'd guess it's possible to look at something like this ;
On taxi straight (straight where you start before hitting runway) ;
0-60
0-100
Standing qtr

On straight;
Corner exit speed
Max speed

What do you all think ?

While all those timing thing are nice, I have no idea how many runs could be achieved in one day. Golf, how many cars were at VMAX Quicksilver and approximately how many runs did y'all get?
My thoughts are, in order of importance to me:

- Naked women (failing this; at least a hot 'go flag' girl)
- Safety
- Number of runs
- Value for money
- Enough numbers to ensure the event has an atmosphere
- Format
- Meaningful timing
- Communication (both before the event and during the event)
- Catering
- Date and weather
No matter where you go, there you are.

Funnily enough, a good friend of mines girlfriend is a pornstar (he does the camera work) and I'm sure she could come with one of her girlfriends got a show should we decide that'd add to the day ?

Bam, I know you like your research, so look her up on twitter - his thing is @mrtaylor69

At Vmax black, there were around 100ish cars (although many popped etc during the day), you got as many runs as you liked (I did a full tank)
Most people only do half a dozen runs, but you could've done 40 if you wanted as by lunchtime most people were just stood around (a burger van with no coffee or burgers, just chocolate left)

Theres usually around 50-60 cars per event
Runs are continuous, so as soon as the first set of dueling cars have taken the corner and are at full pelt on the straight, the next duel is let loose.
You can in theory get any amount of runs in, however people tend to mellow after a handful of runs as it starts to take its toll on the brakes !

VMAX crew are very efficient at what they do with lots of bodies monitoring safety, timing, recording etc
You'd need a team of people to sort an event like that.
