Removal in favour of what exactly... (what will you use for an oil cooler?)

Saki he means the Aux water radiator not the oil cooler.

I understand what you are saying, but the main source of heat on the drivers side is the aux radiator. I am going to remove this radiator when installing the cold air feed, so that eliminates the majority of the heat soak issues.

Not sure I agree here. Plenty of people have fitted gruppeM type air boxes and deleted the aux rad. Many as I understand it have issues with heat soak. After all there's plenty if other things (like the airbox being directly above the exhaust manifold) that cause heat coupled with a packed engine bay and limited ventilation.

Thanks!
I'll investigate heat shielding like Young Ben (I think?) has.

Intake arrived this morning....... :biggrin3:

I thought that rad was primarily for oil cooling . So again I ask...what are you doing for oil cooling?

Here.. Seems like some aren't sure what I mean

On the b6.7 s4 and rs4 jhm located their supercharger there, however they Installed a large oil cooler to make up for the lost capacity.

It's not the oil cooler he is referring to.
You've got the wrong picture from the study guide.

It's this one
Image

Its one of the additional coolant rads to the side of the main rad that is removed.

It is primarily used for oil cooling, that passenger side rad (driver side for uk). I'm not confused. I'm not referring to the wide thin heat exchanger oil cooler that is only on the rs4.

There is an oil cooler in front of the main radiator. Then there are 2 smaller auxiliary rads behind each fog light as seen in the diagram ads has posted. My car is definately configured like this. I have my drivers side one removed (no oil in it) and the passenger side one was leaking coolant and I had it replaced. Perhaps the North American cars were configured differently.

PS I haven't had this radiator for a year now and have not seen an increase in oil temps.

Maybe I'm mixed up after all. I will ask a friend who would know for sure what I was thinking about

Rs4 has more radiators than sone houses! :)
1 main coolant, 2 aux coolant rads, 1 power steering rad, 1 oil cooler rad (the long thin one that breaks all the time) and no doubt an ac rad somewhere.

Ah I think I may know the source of the confusion. The rs4 has an air/oil cooler rad (fragile one on the main rad) but also a second water/oil oil cooler mounted on the block near to where the oil rad connects. It's on the uk drivers side and is shown on saks picture as 'oil cooler coolant'. It's not a rad though but a heat exchanger where the excess heat from the oil is transferred to the coolant.
