Newbe says Hi & seeks advice on buying

if its a great price and has a FASH then you could always stick a mondial audi warrnaty on it for 1500 quid or so. bear in mind there is a 30 day cool off though, so get it Vag Com checked first.

but at the end of the day, these are 20k plus motors and there are real dogs out there and people know what they are worth. sure, you could spend 30k and get a dog, but you are far more likely to have trouble at the lower end of the scale, thats just the way it is, no way around it. if someone thinks a car is worth 25k there is usually a good reason for it, in the same way you can get a "bargain" on v car for 14k.....

Is this the first RS 4 you have driven? I would definitely recommend test driving a number of different ones before committing to a purchase. You certainly aren't short of cars to choose from ( im pretty sure auto trader has over 100) and the more you drive the better your judgement will become at identifying a duffer from a gem. My gut feeling is to try some other cars first. :beerchug:

To add my 2 cents worth....I wouldn't be put off buying a reasonably high mileage one.

I got mine with 79k miles on it, stock exhaust, doesnt smoke at all, still goes like s..t off a shovel. As far as I can tell, its sound as a pound.

The engines in them are extremely well built, and if maintained right, should last even with the caning they get. :kissmyrings:

Oh and do I get to say....

:piss: FON

Yes, but the only fors are if it has pre cats gutted or a decat exhaust so you need to find that out. If it is standard it shouldn't be smoking.

Hereford & Worcester scaghead,
Bit far away fella,I was going to suggest meeting and taking you for a spin...as others have said its not un common to get a little puff of smoke on start up,but running lumpy for ten minutes is a bit worrying tbh..glws :beerchug:
