Well I had fitted 2 GruppeM and agree I don't recall either, but when I had the SAI removed, I seem to recall Doug explaining they they had left a sensor plugged in where the air flap was. My airbox had been deflapped and was running a CAF (even before I fitted the 2nd GruppeM). However, I may have miss heard him.

I bought mine second hand of another forum member and I got in touch with Glen at revolution after thinking I had missed something in the install and he told me:

We supply a little blank in the kit, if you didn't get that then a small bolt in the end of the rubber vacuum hose then
put a little cable tie around it.

I was worried about a vacuum leek because I saw a dip in power around 4k, plugging this line fixed it and I am back to full power.

I would remove it. People will moan that you're drawing hot air in however it's not nearly as detrimental as people think. People should try it and performance test it.

Keep the stock air box. It is very well designed for an all motor rs4. If you go supercharged you may need to look at something else, as at that point it can become a restriction.the

Its a little rubber cap to cap off the vacuum tube.

So are you going for the GruppeM replica or deflapping the airbox?

Just rang on ordered the Revolution Carbon Intake with a Red Forge intake pipe! :D :D :D

Glen recommended a 75mm cold air feed.

Even the RS4 challenge car ran a standard airbox setup, so they can't be that bad for airflow!

I won't expect an improvement in performance but I'm more interested in the induction noise... :biggrin3: :biggrin3:

Doesn't the noise disappear with even a mildly fruity exhaust system fitted though?

Don't know, but I can't hear it over my Tubi with either a resonated or non-resonated centre section. Not sure about cat back resonated millteks.

Would you still grin if it were in exchange for a loss of performance?

Here we go again!

I certainly noticed improved performance at the low end and heats soak can be an issue at the high end and after alot of driving. But CAF soon helps that. And unless you drive everywhere at 5k plus revs is that really an issue? If it is I cant say I have noticed.

I think we should all agree to disagree. OEM air box people love their cars just as much as induction kit fitted people. Ours just sound better :biggrin3:

I understand what you are saying, but the main source of heat on the drivers side is the aux radiator. I am going to remove this radiator when installing the cold air feed, so that eliminates the majority of the heat soak issues.
