Re: Wanted: C5 RS6
Lovely motor ... It probably is one of the finest RS6s around, together with mine.
Mine is also Daytona Grey, but with dark natural grey leather and dark greay alcantara roof headlining.
I have done 56,000 miles & owned the car from new. Mine is not for sale.

..think you wont be disappointed driving it back home, knowing the most expensive/prob least reliable part is in tiptop condition and hit the roads for another xxxxxx... miles.

Re: Wanted: C5 RS6
Last July we needed a family car that could take 3 car seats as we found out we were expecting so I bought an RS6. Then we bought a house 2 months later, unplanned, which has sucked me dry, I've been needing to selling the '6 ever since... told the other half that when all 3 kids were in forward facing seats and the oldest in a booster we'd sell it and get something newer & more economical. She starts the school run in September as well so she'll be doing more miles with the kids.
It behaved itself for a few days and then the gearbox showed some slip, torque converter refused to lock - the usual code showed up in Vagcom. So most likely it had been reset just prior to my purchase with a hidden issue. I found out the '20k' replacement gearbox actually had 52k on it too. Gearbox slip only surfaces in 1st/2nd when you floor it, so good behaviour round town and it's not an issue (yet). A bit of naughtiness just needs the code resetting to keep the TC locking, but it is starting to slip more frequently. My wife drives it in the week now, she loves it and hasn't manage to throw any codes (even though she's starting using the right hand lane at lights).
So I have the perfect RS6 that I should be selling - black w/black optics, natural leather, RNSE, MTM 508 upgrade, Miltek non-res, coilovers, plus brakes, plus alloys and BBS's (currently fitted), 115k (IC's, turbo's, alternator all replaced with new in last 10k). Except the gearbox issue. I don't think it's worth my while selling it as-is, so should get the gearbox sorted first, my wife's conclusion was 'we cant afford to sell it then'. Plan is she can baby it till next spring and then it'll get the attention it deserves when house stuff is done.
If anything changes I'll let you know, but if you do find a 'sorted' car like the one I bought, include a few launches in the test drive, get it to kick down etc and see if it is behaving as it should do. Or ensure you've priced 4k into your purchase price for a replacement!
I look at it like this - the A6 we were looking to buy would have depreciated 4k over the same period, the RS6 with a new 'box probably not at all. It's just most people mentally harder to put 4k on a card rather than in 12 equal monthly installments...

Re: Wanted: C5 RS6
I've just put mine on pistonheads to keep to my part of the bargain that I'd only keep the Six for a year...

She's a good one - still on original DRC but with no faults to date I'd like to think that 10 years says that it's ok!
